Just saw this on cyclingnews http://www.cyclingnews.com/tech.php?id=/photos/2007/tech/features/tour_de_suissetech/IMG_0936 Definitely looks like a nice Crankset, though the chainrings look to be Ultegra or maybe Ultegra SL rather than Dura-Ace. It's not so much time on the front, that's easy to organise. If someone's getting tired, they just sit at the back for a while. The issue would be making sure we don't blast away from someone on the hills, and don't push anyone too hard. We've got a few rider choices which we'll have to decide on la...

I guess the thing we'll be remembering is in a team time trial we have to ride to the strength of the weakest rider at any point in time. So, i don't think we'd be losing too much time slowing down a bit for one hill. The main thing really will be to keep it all smooth, which is why we need to pract...

Probikekit have look pedals on sale, around 40% off at the moment. I need some energy bars, knicks and arm warmers, so let me know.

As for the Carbon vs Sprint. Depends if you need the extra 3Nm of tension possible with the carbons. They're also 20g lighter, for the set, and only $50 more.

If i needed something lower than what i've got, i'd go compact rather than triple. Probably mostly because it's lighter, and requires less equipment changes. You only have to swap the cranks if you want to change, while with triple there's the shifters, front derailleur, and i think you also need a ...

I like the top one best.
I'm with Lindsay. First one looks the best.

2nd one with the smaller flare makes me feel there's no need to it at all.
3rd one looks pretty funky, though probably a bit too far out there.

Never neglect the pedals, i thought all that track riding with toe straps would have told you that. Anyway, which pedals are you thinking of? If you're going to stick with looks, there's one thing you might want to know. Keo Classics have release tension from 8-12Nm Keo Sprints are better at 9-15Nm ...

I'm gonna take a gamble,

1-Schleck
2-Di Luca
3-Simoni

4-Cunego
5-Arroyo

Schleck is only 21 still, so he may not have the experience to tackle the maglia rosa, though he does know how to time trial.

I don't think i really would have sprinted anyway. I didn't have to the previous 2 years. 1st one i was with 2 other club mates, 2nd one i was on my own, and the bunch caught me 500m later.

One other thing. I recall mention of some people possibly riding down to Dapto to watch the race and then getting a lift back from Alan. I will confirm that Alan is still going down to watch, but it could be a good ride for a change, and a chance for some of you to take a look at how the road opens ...

Open at Hurstville

I just noticed there's an Open at Hurstville on the 2nd of June. Probably not suitable for those doing Ken Dinnerville, but it would be a change from Heffron for those that think you could handle the pace. Entry costs are reasonable, $10. Though only A and B grades in both Elite and Masters, so if y...

Wagga race entries close this weekend

Just a reminder that entries for the Opens in Wagga Wagga are closing this weekend. Alan usually drives down in the van, so there's no need to drive yourself, but i'll confirm that he's going. The races are great to do, and i've been down there the last 4yrs, taking out the first sprint (at 40km) 2y...

Descente make some good stuff.

I mainly need a new helmet and some arm warmers, guess i need some knicks too (they cut my arm warmers, jersey, singlet and the straps for my bib knicks at the hospital).

I might drop in tomorrow and see if they have anything suitable.

I never really contest the sprint at Sutherland myself, as i don't feel it achieves anything. I may pick the pace up coming towards it, but that's really just testing my legs, and gives me an idea of my form. It's safer if we decide not to do it, as even if you want to practice sprinting, you're bet...

I have to agree, the aerodynamics of the Cervelo are as good as you're going to find. It's prettymuch the same weight as most other alloy frames from what i remember, so if someone really needed lighter they would have to go for the carbon version. Saying that, getting a bike with this frame down to...

I agree with James in that we should get out of the habit of jumping on the back of other bunches and just ride as our own bunch. Dropped riders on the back of other clubs bunches is fine, but we just need to try and keep the main bunch seperate. I don't think we need to pull over if another bunch o...

Generally i believe if a bottle cage is going to work properly, the bottle will eventually scratch. If you don't want the bottles to scratch, the cage probably won't be holding them tight enough, meaning the bottle may bounce out. I use Elite Patao cages, bit heavy, but they hold the bottle well, wh...

As for the 53, i find the bigger ring is smoother, that's why i like it. If i was going compact for racing i'd probably try and go 51/36, maybe i'd even t...

Weight difference is only 60g, but the Ultegra are supposedly 50% stiffer. 2.08mm of movement compared to 3.05mm with 40kg.
