What about a bike that's on sale, i.e. 2009 stock and it'll be complete? That way you get a good warranty. There are a few good brands out there that have life-time warranties on their carbon frames too! Also, because of the economic change, 2010's bikes are cheaper still!!! Food/bikes for thought....
Bike building is hardly rocket science. If you are handy and delicate with your hands, you'll have no trouble putting a nice bike together. The key issue is compatibility ie. All the components have compatible spec. The other hard part is to get the costing right. About compatibility, I was wonderi...
I had a duathlon last Sunday, and had an opportunity to see some serious triathletes in action. They use kick ass TT bikes to their advantage, and speaking to them I found that a bike like those can cut down something like 15 minutes over a 90km cycling leg of HIM triathlon. I looked at the pricing ...
'Tis but an attempt at humour, given the frequent jibes one hears about the ... erm ... appreciation that folks of all genders often express about budgie smugglers :D I don't know wot kind of appreciation you have been hearing, but in the words of a lady from our club, any fit guy would look heaps ...
Hi all, wearing my Publicity Officer's hat, I want to put out a big, bold press release announcing our likely very strong result* in RAW. An essential element of that release will be some photos, but sadly I cannot make it to Dunc Gray this week to do it myself. So ... can anyone get a few shots fo...
Well done to Julian and Peter who came out this morning for a jaunt through the park. Especially well done to Julian, who despite having been sick, put in some hard yakka on the front, and then hit the wall in spectacular fashion after Flat Rock Creek, but still struggled on to the Top of Waterfall...
Today I started with the middies, got to the servo at sutho's and decided that I couldn't be assed going all the way to waterfall and back. This thread is just to say that I got home alright as I didn't tell any one that I was pulling out. In hindsight I should have at least told someone that I was...
that is to funny, i think you should turn this into a yearly event. it would also be a good way to work on our great tan lines we get as cyclists. Yearly is too less. Maybe once every three months will be go0d to add a bit of fun to the weekend rides. Hope to have more participation for the next bu...
Tim, she's only going to appreciate how sexy you look. The other women were telling me how impressed they were from you. Bigup yourself mate. While Tim and I were enjoying our freedom, some people were involved in strange monkey business: http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2425/3933711780_5b44d8ea9c.jpg
In the tomorrow's slowies ride to CP I will wear budgy smugglers to see how comfortable it is to ride in them in aero position, as I might be doing my triathlon in them. Just so that others don't feel left out, here's an offer to consider: For the CP ride this Saturday, if you turn up in budgy smugg...
You can do it at least 3 times a month and the Renegades ride on Saturdays if you want extras. JamesC would look after you and transform you into a strong climber by summer's end!
Why did two riders broke away and then stopped at a service station? That's very strange thing to do. Anyways! On my way back I went straight home, left my bike and did a 10km transition run. I tried to catch you guys at marrickville cafe after the run but most of you had left. Peter thought I forgo...
Guys, girls and crazy people I am excited about this cycling event tomorrow. Although it starts from 6pm, I will reach there around 8pm after my swimming squads. Since you maybe going early, if you have any questions/issues wotsoever, you may contact gorgeous Jess (m#: 0409.490.711) and mention you ...
http://profile.ak.fbcdn.net/object3/841/41/n130824226943_8985.jpg I met a bunch of green rebels in a jungle or something. They are organising a get together for cycling enthusiasts around Sydney next Tuesday. Around 100 people have already confirmed attending. Although I will be there, I guess we c...
I think we commonly call that the Artillary Hill climb. I am surprised you didn't complain about the Waterfall climb in your Audley-Waterfall loop. The top of that climb hits 12%. Wow! Didn't know about that. That's because I never came across the waterfall climb I guess. Instead of turning right t...
10-12km/hr up that hill is pretty solid. That is about what I manage to do. I also know that hill so, I know where the top is, it is pretty soul destroying as you tend to see a corner approaching thinking that it is the top, only to find that it turns and keeps going, and it does it about three tim...
Which way did you do it? In at Audley or in at Waterfall? When I do it with the quick riders we typically average around the 30km/hr mark, there would be some leeway in this depending on how quick you climb the hills. James Did it Audley in. I was doing about 10-12km/hr in that seemingly endless Au...
Ok, let me get the ball rolling: Some people pay for fun... but we get ours for free... la la la... la la la... D. H. B. C. Some people pay for thrills... but we get ours for free... la la la... la la la... D. H. B. C. ... continue please... Some people pay for sex... but we get ours for free... :s...
Sydney to Gong, Good Weather? Don't make me laugh. Unlike City to Surf which is yet to have bad weather on any of its runnings, Sydney to Gong is lucky if it gets one good year in 4. I seem to remember that the last couple of years haven't been the best. The last time I did it was when it reopened ...

Hill Climb - Lindsay - excellent balance not to big
Flying 20 - Amy - quad dominate bmx rider, small
333 time trail - Christian - if I have to explain that, then you don't know Christian.
BTW G, do you have a leg length discrepancy? Or didn't you stretch your left leg properly during the headstand? If so, that's a 0.5 technical point deduction.
None of the above. The floor is inclined to one side, and Michael was whinging about it.
Taree is a bit uninspiring though. Plus i'm not sure about how busy that route would be. Anyway, i can't leave jimmy on 250km alone. ______ 150km+ 160km+ christian, weiyun, orphic, mikesbytes, Gi, Camilla 200km+ geoff, marian, Mark L, tim L 250km+ jimmy, T-Bone 300km+ 320km+ Who cares about Taree? ...
I think we can be pretty sure your saddle hasn't hurt your fertility. Congratulations on being an up and coming dad. up and coming dad? :?: That's bit reading too much into it. I would rather continue being responsible for abortions. Anyways, thanks a lot for all your suggestions guys! Afte...
In yesterday's waterfall ride, my seat got loose and slipped back and pointed upward. Riding the bike like that left me with a numb/sore arse, and a feeling that it is not good to ride like that. I wouldn't mind spending on a good seat that could save my fertility. But does expensive seat means it i...
as far as a heavier rider moving through the wind better, that is probably because of momentum p=mv momentum = mass x velocity once you are moving, it is harder to stop. But, a bigger rider would present a larger profile to the wind, and wind resistance is measured by a=kvv (if I remember my 4 unit...
Yesterday I was talking to Lindsay why I need to paddle downhill while some other cyclists don't and still go faster than me? I was wondering whether there's some problem with my bike. Lindsay replied that it is because I am lighter than other riders. After giving it a further thought, it didn't mak...
Hi people! Just wanted to share that there are hundreds of bikes and other stuff will be auctioned at the Central Railway Station on 21st July 2009. You may get dirt cheap deals on the stuff. http://www.pickles.com.au/general/onsite-auction/?contentId=1517 http://www.pickles.com.au/digitalAssets/92/...
TT bars restrict maneuverability and is not safe to use in traffic and not permitted in bunches. They are good for TT and TT alone. If you take a look at the recent ITT at the Giro, because of the difficult course, many riders opted to go with regular drop bar rather than dedicated TT bikes. Yea I ...
It's an expensive and involved conversion but works well IF you have a dedicated TT bike. If not, then staying with clip-on TT bars will keep your bike more versatile.
I don't have a dedicated TT bike, but would a TT bar make the road bike less versatile?
G'day everyone I have been advised to practice with TT bars for an upcoming triathlon. I was recommended not to just put the clip-on aero bars on normal ho0d and drop bars of my road bike, but put the tri bar that don't have drops http://www.tri-1st.co.uk/triathlon/images/products/eastonattackbar.jp...
