Douglas is a very hard act to follow, but here's my report on Peaks Challenge Falls Creek 2018:
I signed up for PCFC back in October when my best mate from school said it was a ride to remember for a lifetime. From that day on I knew I had to do more riding than I’d ever done before. The solo ...

Setting a goal seemed like the best way to get back on the bike in a serious way. So I've signed up for the Falls Creek Three Peaks. Looking forward to any tips on any aspect of the ride, including logistics of getting there and accomodation.

Yeah the hill is not too bad at all. Coming from the back side it is a nice gradual climb, but can be a bit deceptive and at pace will sort out riders pretty quick. The other side is reasonably steep, a bit like Lilyfield Road near Iron Cove I guess, but maybe not quite that bad. I found it really ...

Nope - just La Perouse, then back to Centennial, then Weiyun and I rode through town and over the Anzac Bridge. Weiyun pushed me over a couple of laps at Centennial which was good (as I'd done no training all week) and loosened up the legs nicely for Heffron. I'll give it another go this Saturday.

Some more photos. And next year in addition to the Fixed Century, Lindsay and I reckon we should have a Singlespeed Sojourn. Perhaps a Singlespeed Sojourn to Singleton?

More than happy to contribute to the fuel costs. Kevin is a saint, and after hitting that bit of metal near the 'Gong it was great solace to know there was a back wheel sitting in the van ready to use if need be. Tim/Simon/Kevin can you PM me your address so I can send a cheque?

I picked up second in D, after stupidly running down the tank by leading 10/12 laps.

Good on you Toff. Maybe we should all give Cityrail a call, cite the case number, and tell them how important this ride is to the future of cycling in Australia.

My wife and I and our two kids are driving down on the Saturday (we are staying in Sutton Forest). We could give someone (and their fixed machine) a lift to Bundanoon. Although you'd have to be prepared to be squeezed a bit in the back seat, taking a bike would be no drama at all.

What gearing are people thinking of running for the century?
My fixie is currently set up 40/16 (with 170 cranks), which using the late Sheldon Brown's calculator gives a gain ratio of 4.9 (http://sheldonbrown.com/gears/). I note that the out of the box Surly Steamroller comes with 47/19, which ...

Anthony Challinor at Velofix at Rozelle is gearing up to sell titanium bikes he's had custom built. I haven't been on one myself (I'm a steel man - my 'nago Master never shimmies) but they've been tested heavily by Anthony and his offsider Jose and are apparently awesome.

Re: TEKTRO Road Brake Caliper Set - R520 $34.99
I put the Tekro R556 on my singlespeed. It is an old Apollo frame and the reach I needed was huge.
The brakes work a treat. A bit spongy, but with good pads they work just fine. Highly recommended. Certainly better than running old brakes.

For Sale - Trek 2200 (58cm)
Hi all,
For sale for $1,500 ono to a fellow member of the club, my Trek 2200 which I bought from Clarence Street in 2005 (at the time for $3,000).
Here are the specs on the Trek (which I am very reluctant to let go):

Sizes 58cm (so would suit someone around 6 foot, like me)

My wife is Italian, and her cousin works in the Campagnolo factory in Vicenza (where my wife's family is from). They are cool with 'Campy'. Indeed it is quite Italian to bastardise an Italian term to make it easier for us Skips to say it.
