Belinda's First aid course
My next St John course is on the last weekend at Dulwich Hill Public. I'm running it for the Bushwalkers Wilderness Rescue Service (one of my other hats). To find out the details: - Google BWRS - on the left hand side of the screen click on 'St John Ambulance 2-day course' - go to the bottom of the ...

what happened on the chocolate ride
I realised I never reported back on this one. The annual Chocolate Ride is the biggest event on the MASSBUG calendar and I'm happy to say that DHBC was well represented, with six Slowies riders joining in. For this ride, take your slowest bike and biggest panniers. As well as visiting (and sampling ...

First Aid courses
I gather there has been some conversation recently about having more people in the club with first aid qualifications. Good idea! If anyone is interested, I'm running a St John Senior First Aid course at Dulwich Hill Public School in May for the Bushwalkers Wilderness Rescue Service. It will cover a...

Belinda and the boys will be along
The plan at the moment is for me and the boys to do the chocolate ride (Rob is in China), but we'll bail out a bit early to get to soccer.
Tim, where is the garage sale? maybe we can squeeze it in as a detour?

MASSBUG chocolate ride
Our friends at MASSBUG are having their annual 'chocolate ride' on March 28th. Is anyone else interested in coming? Details are on the MASSBUG website, but basically you come along with your wallet and panniers (some people bring a trailer) and visit a series of coffee roasters, chocolate makers, ge...

isn't that what kids are for?
I can clearly remember one freezing cold Saturday where the Slowies bunch stopped 20m short of an intersection in a patch of sun and made Llewellyn ride up to the line and trigger the lights.

club pamphlet
I saw a draft DHBC club pamphlet on bunch riding which was good. Did this ever get published? After reading the draft the boys and I practiced our (very short) pace line on the steepish hill on the way to school. They call 'clear' and 'dropping back' and it gets us all up the hill very efficiently. ...

another big photo
There is a huge group photo from 1936 on the Marrickville image collection - http://photosau.com/Marrickville/scripts/home.asp - search on Dulwich Hill Bicycle Club. Could someone with better skills than me please post it on the forum? I think we should try to re-create the image for the club centen...

more tandem info
We bought an ex-hire tandem from the Pegasus Crew who do the mechanical support on the Big Ride each year. They regularly sell off their hire bikes so I just phoned them (Melbourne) to see what was coming up for sale. Peter just put our bike on the truck with all the others when he was coming up for...

cubs and Theo
Oops, I meant to start a new thread about Theo. I'm still getting used to this. Theo was on his way to the Borgia Centre at Steel Park. When council built the centre the put in bike racks, but NO connection to the cycleway. That means you either have to ride along Illawarra Road in the door-opening ...

Some of you will know that Theo collected a 'lucky door prize' this week and broke his arm. It's been a long week and here are some hints for anyone else who ends up at cas. - line up your family members - 'if you ever have to come to hospital for me, bring spare clothes, a big book (for yourself) a...

yes, I can return tubes
I think it will be fine to return tubes, as long as you are happy for them to be patched by novices.
What would be the best way to label them? Write on them with a white marker? A loop of coloured string around them so I know whose is which?

punctured tubes wanted
Are you one of those 'I never repair a tube' riders? If you are, can I have the punctured ones? 2nd Abbotsford Cubs are doing their cyclist badge and I need to teach them how to repair a puncture. That means I need about 20 old tubes of any sort to practice on. If anyone can help you can give tubes ...
