Re: Cycling Australia - a big weekend and a new President

I read there's mixed reactions out there to the appointment of Gerry Ryan (Owner of Orica GreenEdge, significant financial stakes in TdU and Herald Sun Tour) to the post. Concerns have been raised in relation to the potential for conflict of interest amongst other financial deals. Did the board con...

Cycling Australia - a big weekend and a new President

I spent the weekend at the Cycling Australia board meeting, and the Cyclist of the Year Awards. All in Melbourne. It was a huge weekend and the biggest and most newsworthy outcome is that we have a new President, Gerry Ryan! I left the meeting impressed with his vision and his ability to bring busin...

ALL Waterfall rides are cancelled. They will not be scheduled earlier. If people choose to ride that way, that's fine but it won't be a club ride. There will be lane closures and other things on the route that may interfere with a bunch ride. I'd suggest that people who want to ride consider doing: ...

Re: Adventure Ride - TBA

Jason is out of hospital
Jason would like to thank everyone for their concern and support. He has fractured his neck and arm in a few places and will be in a neck brace for a couple of months. He is home now and "in good spirits (as always)."

Re: Cycling Central Sunday 11th August

Great story Kerry! I bet you never imagined you would be riding to Waterfall before you got the bike. And it sounds like the ability to have rides that were progressively longer - sort of a pathway - helped. As for the sweaty head, well I just cut my most of my hair off. Life got easier, except now ...

It will now be Centennial Park. I've had to abandon La Perouse, it will be in a bunch and you will be fine.

Fortunately I own NO pink.

Can I encourage all DHBC women to join us on Friday morning for a ride to La Perouse leaving Paddington Gates at 6:30am? SBS will be there to shoot some footage.

Re: Alpine Classic 2014 - Entry Open and new ride options

Philip the reason to go down on Friday is that Bright is really humming and social on Saturday. There's heaps to do, lots of cyclists and we'll probably have a pool party at our place. Or something. I really wouldn't be doing a big ride on the Saturday. You'll be surprised by the size of the climbs....

Cycling Central Sunday 11th August

I've been invited onto Cycling Central this Sunday 11th August (SBS2 at 6pm) to join a women's panel. Of course I'll be talking about DHBC and our focus on inclusion, women's track, the juniors and perhaps my experiences racing as Masters. But what else would be good to mention? Help me out a little...

My weekend was soured when, driving to Sunday's race, my bike flew off the roofrack. Cracked frame and other damage, but could have been worse if another car was behind. Now dealing with insurance and thinking about what to replace it with. Paul Your bike flew off the roofrack! How did that happen?...

Now I read other race reports I realise it was very windy. I've been a bit despondent today that I was only 0.5kph faster than last year. But it WAS windy. I did get blown off the road, onto the verge and nearly into a ditch except I unclipped. On the downhill, I was too scared to brake and was doin...

Is there an extreme downhill event I can enter?
One of the downhills was excellent - bunny hopped a cattle grid and speed! Wanted to repeat the climb just so I could do the bunny hop again.

Yep - I'm in! Not sure which E event I will do.

DHBC are scoring 3 points per rider more than LACC. Over their 34 riders this equates to 102 points. If this trend continues DHBC will hit the front next week by 17 points

Congratulations to everyone who rode in the TTT. It was great to see so many DHBC out on the road and giving it a go. DHBC fielded 8 teams along with St George. Only 2 clubs surpassed that - Waratah Masters and SuVelo both managed 9 teams. For us that is a great showing and for many riders it was th...

It means it's a "timed event" which is just like B2B. There may be prizes for the fastest individual time, but it's not a race. The implications of this mean: - you don't need a Gold licence to ride; - as a consequence you will pay insurance in the entry fee. You can still ride as fast or ...
