A handmade/made-to-measure bike like your Baum is destined to be a 'classic'.Umm - it wasn't me who stuck it up there. Never occurred to me it was a classic, modern or otherwise.

It doesnt have to be steel. Although steel is preferred.I guess titanium looks a bit like steel...
Remember we have a Concourse category for Road bicycles 1986 to present. That would include carbon.

Notice some people use these units to clean dirty bike parts. Also read somewhere that these units can break down aluminum, however not been able to verify this.
Aldi will be selling a unit for $25 from the 2nd Feb.

Gold plating on a high-end road bike sounds contradictory to me. But then on the other hand, this probably wasn't designed for actual racing but as a piece of jewellery for wannabe sportsMEN.

Would think you'd need some heavy panniers to hold down the back wheel. May flip over if you touch the front brakes (or for that matter back brakes) too hard.

Agreed. Uncyclable no matter how granny your gears are.Shared path on the eastern side of Balmain Cove complex, Rozelle. Very very steep ....
BTW, anyone tried cycling down this? The turn close to the bottom would be trickey.

I just use mine for light stuff, mostly on weekends. At $39 it wont carry a pig of a bike. However I often leave my 13kg commuter on it for a week at a time. It appears to hold it up competently. However I bought mine from Aldi last year and cannot confirm it this years version is as robust.

Aldi will sell a Bicycle Repair Stand, one of those large tripod things which you clamp your bike top tube off, like in your LBS. I bought one about a year ago and love it.
Only $39.99 and going on sale on Saturday 24 Nov.

This was 1903, so they'd be riding 'Safety' bicycles, very similar to what we ride today. The old penny farthing went out of vogue by the mid to late 1880s. They'd be using fixed wheels, even though freewheels were available back then, but very expensive. Were they riding fixie's or penny's?
