I think it's Hyperglide.
Hypoglide won't glide very well and I don't think Shimano really wants that.

Thanks Christian, then I need a Uniglide removal tool, I'll update the heading on the thread.
In that case its done with two chain whips, the outside cog is the lock ring. One problem though, you are not going to be able to buy another uniglide cassette, they stopped making them a long time ago. You are going to need to change the freewheel body, so you don't need to remove the cassette. You need to take the axle out, then use a 10mm allen key to remove the bolt holding the freewheel body on. Best to get the freewheel body and the cassette then I can change it for you it you want, its an annoying job, but I've had them apart before.

Sorry Alex, didn't read your post until this morning, otherwise I would of dropped by. I'm a bit crook at the moment so training wasn't on the agenda.
The ends of the broken spokes are worn, I'm guessing they have been fatigued or broken for a while, but who knows. The wheel works fine without them. That will teach me to clean the beast, could of gone for months not knowing I had broken spokes.
Anyway, I'll get them replaced before I use the wheel again.

Anytime you want, its in the shed at the back. Much appreciate the loan - thanks Geoff. I'd return it myself but the uniglide has 2 broken spokes

The mystery is solved. The cause of the broken spokes is the chain getting stuck between the the cassette and the wheel. Lindsay replaced all 9 outward facing spokes + the rim tape and now the wheel is as good as new.
The beast rides again.
