Ok - the goss is that WADA dropped in unannounced at Heffron Park either this last Tuesday or the week before, whilst racing was underway. They then took over the toilets in the club house, and when racing was completed picked the winners and other riders randomly and took them into the laboritories... I mean lavatories, and tested them, including some well know A grade names.

I believe this is very rare, but technically everyone who signs up and who race are subject to drug testing at any time. These include both performance enhancing and recreational drugs. A well know A grade cyclist a few years ago was suspended for having traces of recreational drugs in his system.

it happens every so often on the track. All of bishi sport got tested at some thing or other last year.

I wouldnt mind a job as their needle person, youd get to meet some top athletes, and most have good veigns!

So they got free ones. At the World Masters you had to pay $700 to claim your world record.

Tim, your post implies they took blood. I find that hard to believe. Urine - Yes, but blood?

Tim, didn't know you were that much of a saddist.

Wow - testing at club level, that is pretty heavy. I guess it would be A grade only surely???? Only that those things cost a bit of money to orchestrate.

I believe any member of Cycling Australia is subject to possible drug tests. From the back of my licence "In signing this licence , the holder is subject to the Regulations of the UCI and Cycling Australia and accepts any drug test for shich they provide." (yes, drug test is bold and underlined)

Doesn't really happen at our level too much, i'm guessing mostly because of the costs, but beware they they can test, so make sure you know what's in any medicine you take.
