0% float - black cleats

Does 0% float mean that the shoe doesn't rock from left to right, or does it mean that the heal doesn't pivot from left to right ?

If your shoes are rocking from left to right, then your cleats are loose or your pedals spring has worn out.

Anyway, 0degree float is fixed, meaning no side to side rotation, pretty much like toe clips and straps. Some people prefer this, others prefer a bit of float.

OK, due to my knee injury I'm pointing the left heal inwards a little and moving the knee outwards a little.

I think a black cleat will rectify this

If that's your comfort position, then would a zero angle setting cause you trouble?

If I think about it I can hold the foot in the correct postion, so the cleat should result in a simple correct.

I noticed today that I'm walking with the left toes pointing out a little. Should point out that my body is sore today.

BTW how was the snow?

Brilliant. Haven't seen anything like it for years.

But caught the flu on the trip and the whole family is febrile with mad coughs. I'll be lucky to be able to ride by Sat and Sun Waterfall is not looking good. :cry:

I don't know why, but I've stopped getting any significant colds and flus over the last couple of years, go back to the 80's and 90's and I was knocked out for about 2 weeks every year.

Anyway, take it easy and get better.

Thanks. I've been clear of cold/flu for a long time. I think we caught it from a kid who had it on the trip. A bit of a bugger.

Anyway, giving me a bit of time to work on my bike build.

I'm seriously thinking of raising my seat, to counteract the problem of my knees sticking out

I still remember one early morning in front of Mick Mazzas, JamesC rocked up and did a few loops on Marrickville Rd and adjusted his saddle height. He said that your body will tell you when the saddle is too high, then just come down a tad from that for the best fit.

On Sat, I noted some knee pain after the morning ride. As it turned out, my seat post slipped down the tube by about a cm. Raising it back saw the disappearance of the pain the next day.

BTW, I did that Gladesville Br, Victoria Rd, Concord Rd, Homebush Olympic Park loop after waking up late on Sun. Nice ride apart from that Victoria Rd section. I rode it as I couldn't find the side streets on the south side. Kept riding into dead ends.

Thanks. I wasn't prepared and didn't check the map before the ride. All the dead ends were blind attempts around that old Gladesville Hospital. In the end I just gave up and rode all the way to Ryde Rd intersection even though I know the back streets behind Coorabel Rehab Hospital.

The route thru Gladesville hospital is to take every right, so you are as close to Victoria road as possible. Alternative is just to ride that section on the foot path

i was contemplating my cleat placement yesterday, and after a bit of thinking i've come to the conclusion that my right cleat needs to go back a couple of milimeters, hopefully it'll fix the foot pain i get occasionally, as i think the current position puts more pressure on my foot than the left foot which seems to have a more solid platform.

Hopefully the black cleats will sort out your issues, just make sure the placement is correct since there's not much room for error with them.
