Hey guys I have to work out if I organise the club time trial this Sunday. Can people state their interest so I can work out if it is worth while running and then handicapp it so it's fun?!

I'm in, and I want to win.
I'd really like to do it but I think I'm going to have to skip it. I've trained on after having the flu the week before Mudgee and now I'm a bit of a wreck. I'll be interested to hear what the times are though so that I can beat Alex as soon as I start riding again.
I like that excuse...I could use it myself.I'm in, and I'm going to let Alex win.
So, I think I'm in - and I will definately let Camilla and Amy win. Whilst I am there - I may as well let Michelle through the finish line aswell, and anyone else who wants to challenge the grey jersey.
If we are not back at Marackville around 10am - I will have to stick to slowies at Waterfall.
I want to do it, but I will probably be very slow so I'll need a good head start. Having said that being handicapped to be the first starter seriously sucks. It's nice to have people riding in front of you so you can chase.
I'm still waiting for someone to map out the course for me so I can see the elevation profile?

Course is here
http://www.bikely.com/maps/bike-path/DH ... ial-course
It may be shorter then this depending on where the finish is going to be. It its at Audley then we will miss the climb at the end.
you can get the elevation from the show menu.

Simon previously said the course is approx 16km while the course shown on Bikely is 21km. 5km difference would be far greater than the inclusion or exclusion of Audley climb-out.
Ok if I ride, I have to miss a 300km audax ride. And I really wanted to do that. If I do this, I want to add another ride obto it, as there is now a chance I might be able to do grafton. Any one interested in a 150 or so km ride after this? I think I may have church at 4, so not sure on how this will work.
I had the flu after Mudgee, and i'm happy to beat Alex next time as well, but this Sunday i'll be racing at Kurrajong.I'd really like to do it but I think I'm going to have to skip it. I'm ultra keen. My rib is not. I wish I could have bottled the look my chiropractor just gave me when I asked if I could go to track tonight. And he's a cyclist!
Chances are I will come. I can leave the rib at home. I have others.

I'm pulling out. I struggled with regular Waterfall last week and need to get back on top of my training. This will probably just kill me.

There needs to be a prelude stage to determine the appropriate handicap.

So Simon a man 10 years older than you only gets 15 seconds on you LOLProvisional start times. The hope is that everybody will get there for 8am so we can get the start right. I will probably be driving out to make sure everything is ok for starting.

I'll put my money on a photo finish between Mark L, Tim (othy) and Christian
I'll decide if I am in shape to ride it on Sat. What might my handicap be?
PS. I am "old".

How much time do you want? It is a time trial based on times not finish position.I only get 15/30 second head start over Amy and Camilla.....you have got to be kidding! I think I might start my own race at 7.30 just to be safe!
That's Chubsy & he's younger! So Simon a man 10 years older than you only gets 15 seconds on you LOL
I'll slot you between Anthony & Andres if you like.I'll decide if I am in shape to ride it on Sat. What might my handicap be?

Happy with that. And you are right, it is an ITT although having someone in front "to catch" makes the ride easier.I'll slot you between Anthony & Andres if you like.
As I said, I'll have to wait till tomorrow to see my condition (where did my list of excuses go).
BTW, how are you going to run the timing? Maybe you can ride out first and let the last rider do the timing. Just don't get a flat on your ride!
Also, where's the finish? Any drafting rules?

No drafting. I have two Timers lined up who will not be racing but running it & driving. Alex R & Matt W. I plan to have two intermediate time checks on the road. As for the finish it will be after the last big climb but Matt is working that out.Happy with that. And you are right, it is an ITT although having someone in front "to catch" makes the ride easier.

The course is as per Christian's post a while ago and is available here - http://www.bikely.com/maps/bike-path/DH ... ial-course. The only alteration is that you'll be finishing before crossing Audley Weir rather than going up the final climb. If you don't know where that is you'll recognise it when you come to it - you'll be doing roughly 70 - 80 km/h down a big hill before braking hard to make a 90 degree left-hand turn onto the Weir itself. I'll be in the braking area somewhere taking the final times. You'll probably want to continue slowing down by crossing the Weir before coming back to find out your time!
So the total distance is roughly 22 km. There'll be two intermediate time checks: the first will be at the Garie Beach turnoff after ~ 4.5 km; the second will be at the base of the final climb after ~ 13 km. Time check positions are determined by ease of access/egress for Alex and myself but are also meaningful in the grand scheme of things, coming after the first climb and before the final climb as they do, however I'm happy to go where needed if there's a strong push for another couple of spots.
The plan calls for a debrief over coffee afterwards and I reckon the Boatshed at Audley Weir is a good bet for that unless anyone knows better.
I'm expecting everyone to be done in 30 minutes or so.
Ha!

Yeah - but how embarrassing is it if I am the first one off the rank, who is overtaken by every one in the field....I need all the help I can get.How much time do you want? It is a time trial based on times not finish position.
PS: If I can't be back before 10am, I will need to withdraw anyway.

Based on your start time Jo, I think your finish before 10am
Maybe the debrief should be back in Marrickville, to allow those who need to escape escape.

NOTE: Edited since first post as I botched the intermediate times. They should now be right +/- a few seconds or so, sorry.
Well the results are in:
Well done to Simon for setting the time to beat in future, with Alan not very far off at all. Everyone did well to ride flat out for 40-odd mins on such a hard course. Andres cramped on the final climb which we decided to include at the last minute, which may or may not have been adequately communicated to all competitors!

Great day out!!! I had a real ball, Thanks to Matt & Alex for getting out of bed, freezing their backsides off and doing a fantastic job with the timimg!!!!
I think we should re-schedule & do it again in 3-6 months to see how people are progressing!!!
