G'day guys, is anybody up for a long ride on Saturday?
What I"m thinking is waterfall out to the round about at heathcoate, then back through to centenial park via the highway, eat lunch innner city somewhere. Then do it all again... It will be about 210kms.. The only catch is I want to do it fixed...

Are you up for it fixed? we could do one of the passes & some climbing otherwise to make up the kms but I actually think fixed will be better training even without the massive climbs, because we will do a lot more pedaling & burn a lot more calories... 6:30 or 7:00 start at Micks? depending whether you value another half hours sleep after FNWTR?

you can ride your road bike if you like... it doesn't matter too much to me...
I'd like to do a long ride on Sat - could I come along? I desperate for Simon to show me the best chicken burgers.
Simon, have you ridden your road bike over such long distances? Riding it might be a good idea if you want to learn about how your body goes over such distances on that bike - give you a chance to see whether there's anything you might tweak before the Grafton?

Yeh I"ve actually already decided to ride my road bike. I've also rethought the route. Marrickville-national park-stanwelltops-waterfall-centenial park-chicken burger shop-waterfal via highway-marrickville. Should be about 200kms.
THat sound alright? I"m thinking it should emulate grafton in it the first half is mainly up hill & the second half not so bad...

We're starting to think a Wollongong ride could be a better idea, going south for 100kms then turning around, back via mount Keira, if anybody else is interested?

7am at Micks.... Don't know what time that equates to at Sutherland?
Rest is as important as the suffering on the bike.

One lap around the velodrome... Me, Huw and Grant Ventured down to Unanderra Velodrome today as planned & did a few laps. It was pissing down when we left & when we got home but bright & sunny most of the day. It took ten hours, we had two punctures & two meal breaks, so the estimated time was about 8 hours & we think it was about 200kms. But it was well worth the trip, a very peaceful & enjoyable ride. Utopia...
