The Tour Down Under
Because Arthur Vichot is in the race http://www.sa.cycling.org.au/default.asp?Page=36207Why is all the publicity on the american when Jens is here?!!
I am meeting up with some other Arthur Vichot fans and we are riding to the start at Unley to see if we can get a photo with him then up the hill to Sterling for the finish. Oh I love this race.
He's tougher than Chuck Norris, but he's also a top bloke and a total sportsman:

And who can forget his tenacious climbing performance – and sportsmanship – in stage 19 of the Giro in 2006, with 4,000 metres of climbing over four mountains. Voigt stayed with all the mountain men but refused to contest the sprint after sitting on the wheel of Juan Manuel Garate on the final ascent.
“I always like to win, but if I don’t work, I don’t win,” he was reported saying. “That’s just not me. I cannot win like that.”
Following the race today I consumed 3 cans of coke, 3 bottles of gaterade and 4 bidons of water. I also ate 2 gu's and 1 energy bar...and I still have a headache from only riding 80k. Damn hill's were hard today and the temp got up to 39 deg as we decended into adelaide from sterling. Can't wait for the 160km of pain that is tomorrow ride
p.s I met michael tomalaris (sp?) today before the race and he commented that the DHBC jersey was very recognisable when he is doing his waterfall ride on sundays.

George has a custom paint job, but besides that its pretty similar to the other team BMC bikes.

Did you see how slow they were going up that hill. It must of been a hell of a lot steeper than the camera made it look
The best stage so far.

Did you notice that some were wearing skin suits in the crit
I think Sky and Garmin were both using their skinsuits as standard, even on the road.
I caught a very brief glimpse of G on the final day criterium too, as the riders came around one of the corners.
Well, actually, I saw a flash of something insanely pink behind the riders as they rode past. When I blinked a few times to recover my sight, I noticed a budgy smuggler shape still burned into my retina.

That might be Gi's next project.Didn't see any mankini's on TDU
I thought it's supposed to work the other way round. The sky team cyclists were throwing water on me from their bidons.
Don't know. I lead their palaton about 500m uphill, and one of them accelerated ahead, came next to me, splashed water on me and then got back to the palaton. When I stopped at the side, and they rode by, another one splashed water on me. They are good sport really!I thought it's supposed to work the other way round.

Even "The Devil" wasn't as excitable as you by the peloton, they decided you needed some water to cool it and calm down.
Wot's a groupie?groupies suck?
Here's a shot from the 160km Norw0od to Goolwa stage 4 challenge. This stage was an absolute riot. We did incredible speeds, and a bloody 40 knots gusty side wind took a terrible toll on the cyclists. The guy behind me doing the gangsta signs is our own Ironman Jules!
Was it hairy and dark skinned?btw, did anyone see a humongous kangaro0 when I started running with the cyclists up the Willunga Hill?
The one with orange jersey @ 00:14 in the following videoWas it hairy and dark skinned?

Hi All
I also did the 160Km ride on the Friday. I rode my clacker off and it still took me 6 hours and 17 minutes in the saddle. My computer said 43 degrees in the sun, 1648 metres of climbing.
I drank 5 litres of water, 2 litres of powerade, ate 3 bananas and four museli bars. plus inhaled the lunch provided at the end.
Best ride I have ever done. Who's up for next year? See you on the road.
cheers
Dougie

I thought you where Chris because you talk like you have a garmin toy. Nice ride Dougie! Did you hate the side winds? Did you see any of us during the ride?
I loved riding through the hills and the SA country side, until we got hit by strong side winds and the pelaton went bonkers!
Cheers
G
