Well, i've got a pair of 36h Mavic Gel280 rims (just over 300g each), but i'm not sure what i should do with them as they're not really suited to the dishing that 9/10 speed hubs place on them.
On option would be to save them for a retro build, otherwise i could build myself some extra light track/fixie wheels.
Any ideas?
What to do........
these rims are detrimental to your emotional wellbeing. They are causing you a considerable amount of mental anguish. You must get rid of them now. I'll do you a favour and pass by your place tonight and pick them up and rid you of them forever!

I second that. There are just too many spoke holes on those rims, not OCP enough for you. Pass them to the first victim that comes past your door.these rims are detrimental to your emotional wellbeing. They are causing you a considerable amount of mental anguish. I'm afraid that 36h is just way too many spokes for you 3 lightweights, but Ideal for a middle weight such as myself.

91kg is too heavy, you need 40hDUDE, I am 91Kg. The rims are mine!
Another option would be to get a different rim for the rear wheel to build them up, but then i'd still have extra rims, so i think i'm leaning towards the retro build. Maybe 1st Gen Dura-Ace (i've got the headset...) or Dura-Ace Ax.

For a fixie, you really want steam roller rims
I forfeit my God given right to those rims...DUDE, I am 91Kg. The rims are mine!
It's more sensible to have a light rider for these rims, they're from the 80s and 300g each. They're also tubular which is one reason why i haven't built them up, the other being the poor suitability for 9/10spd.I'm thinking a retro build is probably the most suitable, though at the moment i don't really want to spend the money on one. If some 36h gel330s come up on ebay i might change my mind and have a spare set of rims for someone.
I guess some amercian classic magnesium rims would be better for a light non-carbon wheel build. Stronger at least.

Well, i've got an idea for the rims. I think i'll be able to use them on a new project i've come up with in order to offset some weight gained though hubs, though clinchers may be more suitable. I'll start another topic with the details a bit later when i finish working them out. Just think "Super Fixie"........

If they are tubular rims, why don't you use them on your track bike?
