Nonbikerelated talking thread. (nsfw)
I suppose you need carbon fibre and plastic to avoid rust.
http://j.mp/9dMq8gAre you ready to put this in your “Bikini Bottom”?
I was shopping at the supermarket yesterday when I came upon a unique piece of Nickelodeon merchandising - a Spongebob Squarepants Musical Rectal Thermometer! Yes, it’s musical. And yes, it’s clearly marked for rectal use. It actually plays the Spongebob theme in your ass when your temperature is taken!
Spongebob is a huge success, and merchandise like this literally sticks it to the competition. But this product ranks with the infamous Mickey Mouse vibrator as one of the most miscast in cartoon licensing history! What were they thinking? Spongebob has enough trouble regarding his sexual identity. Ren & Stimpy may have been a better choice here… but Spongebob? Nah!

I have ummm, come across an MP4 version of the Liz Hatch DVD called Come Ride With Me - it's pretty good actually, even Jo thought so - very motivating. I'll make you a backup if you like Tim?
Also, here's some photo's that show she really does race, even with those plastic breasts.

No need to delete it Tim, the trick with posting inappropriate or sensitive content (ie non G rated) is to not post it as an image, but to post it as a link with a NSFW warning. So we don't accidentally open it at work and minors don't open it accidentally.lol!!!
if you read the thread they are in trouble for posting photos of her too!!
lol mum didnt like the helmet pic, so i took it down sorry to any one offended
lol
we have that on our whole thread.
Man i just realised theres an etiquete thread in the road section! and G has posted some of the funniest stuff in it!! and i wanted to joke about it, but its from last year?! man seriously we have to not have these things in sticky's?! i dont read them if they are a sticky, and normally nothing in the news section, so yeah. So any thing that is in the list on the conversation thread i dont read, though i checked out the distances thread and it turns out you can put numbers next to your distance if youve done it more than once man mike, ive totally done the 160 in double digits, and a few 200's etc too and cant post it

there were points a plenty today for flat tyre compYeah, I got a hundred yards up the road and remembered all those other crap rides that I'd ever been on in the wet and turned around and went back to bed.

Give me a yell if you want a price on a new iPod. We sell them. I can't get a huge discount (they are low margin products), but any saving is better than nothing.

took me some time to warm up when I got home.
Thanks James but I needed one straight away, especially as my burner is working so I couldn't burn a play list for Mondays class. Cost me $186 today at Marrickville Metro. Its tax deductible so I'll get some of the $186 back. Some of the instructors use 2 ipods, so they have a backup one if the dies, so I'll take you up on it sometime.

In california again - really need a bike out here, lots of cyclists. Checked out some bike stores yesterday then went to Maker Faire, which had some weird and wonderful bicycle contraptions built, will post photos when I can get them off the camera. Wish I could have gone to the Tour of California but it is finishing down in LA this weekend, bit far to drive from San Fran.

Who needs a power meter
If you look at the top picture of those two pictures of the broken Nervar cranks you will notice that there are two distinct zones visible in the cross section of the broken crank. On the shear plane, towards the outside face of the crank is a dark zone, and on the inner side is a lighter zone. This tells a great deal about what happened. Many years ago (possible over a decade ago or longer), the crank got scratched on the outside surface. Scratches are very common, but this scratch happened to be close to the middle of the crank - a place where crank flex is greatest. Over the years, this scratch was the initiation point of a crack in the crank. which gradually grew deeper and deeper into the crank. The dark zone shows how deep the crack got. The dark colour is caused by penetration of water, oil, dirt, and other impurities, as well as oxidisation of the aluminium. It shows that the crack extended nearly halfway into the crack before the crank eventually failed under load and the end of the crank sheared off cleanly. The light zone shows the part that sheared off under load. It basically shows that this crank was close to twice as thick as it needed to be for this user, because the crank was able to support his load for many years before it finally expanded to a point where it there was no longer sufficient material to support the rider's stresses.
If this rider conducted proper maintenence of his bike, which includes cleaning and inspecting his cranks, the crack should have been visible, and preventative action could have been taken.
What is clear is that this rider is not a high power user, as high stresses would probably have caused this crank to fail much sooner.
In any event, a power meter would not be recommended for a rider who demonstrates that he/she cannot look after his equipment.

Yeh Alex looked at the crank last night and explained about the dark quarter. The crack wasn't visible and its only been on the bike for 6 months. Based on what you have said, it would appear that the crack was much older.
Of course if it was a Campy crank it wouldn't of broken

All of these failures are fatigues failures and no rider can crack a crank by single blow brute force ie. There are no "high power" riders. What is clear is that this rider is not a high power user, as high stresses would probably have caused this crank to fail much sooner.

Yeh, it says its due to injury, but the real problem was that the team contracted 6.8kg bikes and they can't withstand the true meaning of brute forceis this why you are going to miss the TDF this year mike?

I don't want to get too technical, but this crank shows two sorts of failures...All of these failures are fatigues failures and no rider can crack a crank by single blow brute force ie. There are no "high power" riders.
The dark area failed shows a progressive fatigue failure, which is almost certainly a process that took many years. If you look closely at the dark area, I am sure it will show a circular pattern similar to tree rings eminating from the initial fatigue crack. The lighter area shows a sudden catastrophic failure attributable directly to the application of "brute force".

Now that's true bike pornI think PMP cranks are the most campy cranks I have seen, although I have never seen one fail.
Campagnolo cranks do fail in this manner...
See here.
Nay... It was the straw that broke the camel's back! A light feather down stroke and it was gone. The dark area failed shows a progressive fatigue failure, which is almost certainly a process that took many years.
