This year I have decided that in order to make sure that the criteriums out at Dunc Gray criterium circuit actually happen for at least 7 of the 12 months of the year DHBC will be running a 7 part championships point score. The way it will work is that riders will be split into grades A/B, C/D & E/F so that 3 point scores will exist. If numbers grow massively then this can be broken into 6 points scores but based on last year it is unlikely.

Each month a different type of event will be run on the same circuit and based on the numbers on the day points will be given out. So say 8 riders show up in C/D the the rider who wins on the day will receive that number of points, 8 and second place will get 7, 3rd will get 6 and so on down to 8th place who will recieve 1point. If sixteen riders show up 1st will get 16 points, 2nd 15 points and so on. At the end of the 7 months the rider with the most points will win the grade. Riders who move up grades (or down) may take their points with them so long as they do not have more points than the leader in the grade above, in which case if they do they will lose as many points as it takes to put them back to the leader. In the last 2 months no movement of points from grade to grade is allowed but rider may rider up a grade (or down) if they wish.
1. MARCH (TBA likely 06/03/2011): Prologue & scratch race. Riders must do a one lap screamer of the track, places are given as per placings based on time. Grading will also be decided on these times though riders may choose not to accept their grading and choose a grade instead. A/B, C/D & E/F scratch race to follow. Overall points for the day will be absed on position in both events.
2. April: (likely 17/4/2011) Handicapps. grades split into 2. A & B, C & D, E & F based on positioning in the pointscore. One bunch will chase the other over a designated time period. First over the finish line wins. ie E may have half an hour to chase down F, if E does not catch F then then F will be sprinting for the win. If E does catch F then complete grade will be sprinting for the win. Handicapps to be announced.
3. May (likely 15/05/2011): Team time trial. Grades will be broken down into teams of 4 riders ideally, based on riders individual positioning on pointscore, teams will be made in the spirit of fairness and everybody giving it ago, ie the fastest and slowest rider in one grade should be in the same team. Teams will race over a time period like half an hour. One rider from the team must be riding at all times, other team member are permitted to take as many laps out as needed so long as one rider continues to set the time. Points will be allocated to teams as per placing in overall race with all of a team receiving the score of the highest placed rider. So if there are 6 teams of 4 riders each in a grade the winning team will all receive 16 points, 2nd will all receive 12 points, 3rd 8 points and 4th 4 points.
4. June (CANCELLED). Points race. Races will be over a certain time ie 30mins with an allocated number of sprints, for example commisaires will attempt to to break up the sprints fairly like at 10 minute intervals but will be based on safety and position of the bunches. Bunches will receive the bell on a sprint lap. Riders must remember their own number of points and claim their place at the finish. points per sprint will be will based on rider numbers and announced on the day.
5. July (l17/07/2011): Teams points race. This race will be run similar to the individual pointscore except rather than an individual score, teams will be created and team scores accumulated. the way it will work is the race will consist of a number of sprints, like 4. If there are 4 riders in each team, then each rider will only be alllowed to sprint for one sprint. Teams should elect which rider will ride for which sprint but can be changed during the race, baring that riders cannot sprint for a second time if a team member has not yet sprinted. Overall pointscore will be allocated the same as the team timetrial.
6. August:Scratch races. Each grade will race over a set time with first over the line winning.
7 September: All in handicapp. Riders will be graded as per ability and each bunch will be chasing the other as per all in handicapps run in the past. So A grad off scract, F grade off limited. F given something like a 10 lap head start, so that A must pass F 10 times to win. All other grades hanicapped in the middle. ie B 1 lap, C 4 laps etc. Overall point granted as per individual rider in their grade as per number of rider in the grade. HAndicapps will be announced prior to the start as well as outline of rules.
