I'm arranging to get out of work early on Fridays for this. From all reports it sounds like the best thing ever.
How many weeks does it run for? Can't find any dates on the website.

The 2011 intro clip
• Thanks to those who, sent me encouraging messages re: the intro vid posted on Youtube
• If you haven’t seen it check out http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M8oZvKFl ... g&index=24
Week 1 Feature Race
The RAW Track 1.5km Wheel-race
• This weeks feature race will be the RAW Track 1.5km wheel-race
• Riders finishing in the top 3 of the warm up scratch race from Div 1-4 will qualify for a 12 up wheel-race.
• If Divisions are split into two, first and second will qualify.
• Trinkets + Cash prize
First week’s Program
• Round 1 warm up Scratch
• Round 2 The RAW Track wheel-race
• Round 3 sprint (4 up’s over two laps)
• Round 4 Points Race (3 sprints)
• Round 5 Combines
Blue indicates Series Points scoring rounds
Explain these races
Sprint- RAW Track sprints are usually run as 4-6 ups over 3 laps (2 laps this week) the first few laps are usually spent sizing your opponents up and positioning yourself for the optimum explosion to the finish. It is not uncommon for a sneaky rider to attack early in the hope of holding a lead to the finish. The sprint is a test of power, speed and above all, tactics.
Point score- Riders must score points by sprinting for intermittent sprints every 5 laps for bonuses (5, 3, 2, 1 points). Lapping the field scores a bonus 20 points, consequently losing a lap to the field scores -20points. Winner of the race is the rider with the most points. Although the lapping rule is indicated in this description, at RAW track the race is generally too short to secure the lap consequently we generally don’t allow lapped riders back in.
BSCC- RAW Track Canteen
• I am delighted to announce that Bankstown Sports Cycling Club will be hosting a Canteen at Raw
• The Canteen will provide the basics and it is hoped that it will be well supported by our riders and spectators
• Profits raised will be going towards covering costs at their Wednesday night training session which are currently running at a loss.
• Not only will we be supporting the canteen but also promoting the Wednesday Training session in a hope to turn both initiatives into profits.
Rain is not a problem at the DGV
• In contrast to a lot of NSW racing over the last two months, Rain is not going to interfere with RAW Track Racing.
• Despite this, please be prepared for a chilly experience.
Points for 2011 series starts week 1
• For every week you attend you receive 10 points
• Everyone is allowed to miss 2 RAW nights without losing to many points.
• In rounds 3,and 4 top 4 place getters receive 5,3,2 and 1point respectively
• From Week 11 August 26 place getter points are doubled.
Sign-on’s and Licenses ….. Bring It!
• If this is your first RAW Track for 2011 you will need to show your license …….It is everyone’s first for 2011
• I record your license as sighted and you are fine for the season.
• Sign-on’s are in Point-score order.
Website http://www.rawtrack.com.au
• I note in the poll of “Who will win TWE RAW Track 2011 Point series”

RAW TRACK 2011 ….Bring It!
Hey guys, I'm in for tomorrow. What's the best way to drive to Bass Hill in peak hour? Hume Hwy all the way, or Punchbowl Rd etc?
(I'm not from Sydney and have never driven further west than Ashfield.)
(I'm not from Sydney and have never driven further west than Ashfield.)
It depends partly where you start from.
I find that leaving from either Redfern or Annandale that Hume Highway is the way to go. It can be a bit slow but it is fairly consistent. Several of us come that way.
Avoid the M5 it is bad news, especially on a Friday night.

Forgot to add that. Leaving from Leichhardt. Will take the Hume, also less chance of me getting lost, which is pretty likely really.
Glad to hear there'll be a canteen there with some food!

Yeah I saw some pretty big sprint attacks from Patrick, also from Michal. Some epic points race action from Simon and Alex too. Great to watch, I realised I was kind of spinning around on the spot on the infield. Looking forward to this season, annoyed to be missing next week though.
What a good start to the season, except for the insane number of stacks, Tim got caught up in one.
I hope all the DHBC track newbies didn't get put off by all 'thud' sounds...

I won a one lap screamer up against one of the all time greats of RAW track, David Brown, and that little up and coming Central coast lad Nick Yallouris, who was the fave for our race! In a time that beat Tirian McManus (but not half of B grade including our very own Andrey Slezak (21.54) who wasnt even trying?! But yeah What I have learnt, is that you dont love this stuff when it happens, because it may not happen often!
A lot of us managed to scream loud enough to win this time, I surprised myself. Crafty recorded 21.82 for me and Alex P who was 2 inches behind on the line. That was quicker than faster sprinters in divs 3 & 4 so I don't quite believe it? Fun racing anyway.
Tim I can still see the snaps. On some browsers they don't show (eg old ones). Not sure if that is the issue?

Win’N’ Out This is the opposite of a Miss’N’Out race. After a designated number of laps a whistle is blown for the first sprint. The winner of the first sprint is deemed the winner of the race and allowed to carefully withdraw from the race. Each proceeding lap sprint will produce the consecutive places from 2nd to 4th. Tip if you go for a sprint win it!
Mystery- This is a standard scratch race however the number of laps is predetermined by random selection by the organiser and concealed. The riders are given a bell with 1 lap to go.

This week’s Races
• Round 1 Warm up Scratch
• Round 2 “No – Race this week” Every second week is a feature race.
• Round 3 Kierins
• Round 4 Winners Race
• Round 5 Combines + CNSW Time Blaster” (Time Blaster time is 8:48 sec for $100)
Explain these races
Kierin- The keirin is a motorpaced event that is very popular in Japan where it originated. In that country, huge amounts of money are bet on races and professional keirin riders command impressive salaries. It is similar to the match sprint, but features 6-8 riders on the track. A derny motorbike paces the riders from 25 km/h up to 45 km/h for the first few laps. During this time, riders jostle each other for the best position and this is often the roughest part of the event. With two and a half laps to go, the derny bike pulls off and the sprint is on. Team tactics are important here, as the leadout is often quite long. If one team can get two of their riders in the final, then they are at a distinct advantage. reference http://www.cyclingnews.com
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6CxkGOgo ... re=channel
Winners Race- The race is over 16 laps. There is a sprint with 13laps to-go, the winner of this sprint qualifies for the final sprint, however he/she must continue to race, keeping a close eye on the winners of the sprints with 10, 7 and 4 Laps to go. Each of these riders also qualify for the final sprint. With 4 laps to go all non-qualifying riders must withdraw from the race, leaving a 4 up sprint to decide the final placing. You can work out all the tactics on this one.

• Special Jackson Law and Timothy McMillan Fund raising event.
• Round 3 Sprints ( 6 up over 3 laps)
• Round 4 Point’a’Lap
• Round 5 Round 5 Combines
Explain these races
Point'a'Lap- The race is run similar to a point score-however each lap is a sprint for first place only and worth one point. The overall winner is the rider with the most points.
Sprint- at RAW Track, sprints are usually run as 4-6 ups over 2-3 laps the first laps are usually spent sizing your opponents up and positioning yourself for the optimum explosion to the finish. It is not uncommon for a sneaky rider to attack early in the hope of holding a lead to the finish. The sprint is a test of power, speed and above all, tactics.
Timothy McMillan and Jackson Law going to the Junior World Championship Moscow 17-21 August
• Two RAW track prodigies are heading to Moscow to represent our country
• Many of you will not be aware that a Junior level the costs involved in this fall upon the athlete (read Parents)
• Added to this there is the additional costs in attending compulsory training camps most of which are in Adelaide.
• The whole exercise cost $7000 per athlete and think of the cost if the parent wants to go be a supporter/spectator.
• We will be holding a fund raiser this week at RAW Track in a hope to raise a few hundred dollars to assist Tim and Jackson.
The Fund Raiser
• Tim will be riding a 200m fly this Friday!
• I am asking patrons to sponsor Tim for a unit of money
• This unit of money will be multiplied the amount of 1/10th below 11 Seconds Tim rides.
• Last year Tim road a 10.99 at RAW this would equate to 1 x $unit to be donated.
• If Tim rides 10.8? this will equal 2 X $unit
• Jackson will be able to aid Tim in his lead up to the fly.

Again in 2011- No series prize for winners of Div 5
• Div 5 was introduced to be a stepping stone to riding in a higher grade
• In the past, some riders have not progressed to a higher grade because they were highly ranked for the point series. Even though they had progressed in speed and ability.
• To return Div 5 to its intended purpose and encourage riders to step up, there will be no series prize for Div 5 in 2010
• Riders will continue to score points in Div 5 and can take them up to Div 4 (as per RAW Track Constitution)
• As with 2010 Trophies are still awarded to the top place getters, along with the season DVD, however they receive no money or tickets for the prize pool.
