I just entered the remaining sprint events...kieran,250m TT and the sprint.anyone interested!? The 1 lap screamer in particular will be fun, and for that I'm thinking of those couple of people who I see practising their standing starts - tim?trouty? Anthony p?!!

I had the one lap screamer penciled in as a 'will definitely do' & was trying to work out how to get out of work early for the Keirin, but I was just looking at the dates and I may not be able to do either as I may be moving house. That's a bit disappointing but hopefully I can get some time out for the one lap screamer.
I think the keirin is the state title for all, it has always been one of the blue ribbon events and one that is worth a ride even if your no where near contention as it is very unpredictable, a great way to learn cycling tactics and just a raw adrenalin event. If you ain't near front grab a wheel and try holing it, because it will probably be one of the fastest sprints you will ever do! The only problem looking at the start list at the moment is that they are all sub 11.0 second sprinters, possibly sub 10.5 which means it may be a bit too quick for most to integrate into the race. giving a 2 seconds in a sprint is a bit to much but you never know till you give it a go!

Wow,i didn't recognise any of the names on the start list-i didn't realise they were so fast! Will they combine the 19s,23s and elite? Also, there are very few entries in the sprint and 250m. There is gav white and dave wilmott in the 250m, so it will be good to watch them and learn as much as possible. Btw does anyone know how to get in touch with theo-i was going to see if I could get a few during lessons off him over the next few weeks.i have no idea what I'm doing...
I think all the events are for elite? Not old woman like me.I just entered the remaining sprint events...kieran,250m TT and the sprint.anyone interested!? it was one lap! the advise i got from my dad (david wilmott) was strat fast and get faster. oh remember to turn left. it was good advise.
i managed to do a 22.5! almost 1 second faster than i did at raw, i think it put me about mid field withthe results.
two things i need to do next time
1. breath- i know it's obious, but all the sprinting i ususally do is in the pool, so my brain turns off breathing when i sprint. i also have this problem when i skate.
2. i need to practice my start, being the second time i've ever used a start gate, my timing is still a little off.
but i'm really happy with how i went, i didn't feel like i was slowing at the end, and my legs were totally blown. 250m goes really quick!
p.s Pat did really good time too!

Yeah it was awesome fun! I rode a 20.1 which I was happy with. My tactic was to use a really small
gear and get up to speed really fast - I rode an 86" and felt very under-geared. I spun it out after
about 80-100m I think, which was too early. I reckon a 90" would have been perfect for me. But I was
happy with the time. Lizanne looked super slick out of the gate! And yeah I agree my legs were totally
blown - I was hurting more last night than I was after the pursuit!? I wouldn't mind really focusing on
sprinting, but if you trained for it properly and weren't in an academy there'd never be an opportunity to
use it
I was going to do another post, but I am having big problems trying to change the rear sprocket for
the match sprint tomorrow. I think they are on too tight, and I just can't get them off!!?!?! It's
anti-clockwise right? Geez I wish Lindsay was my next door neighbour...! I'm really stuck here

Stupid question, you took the lock ring off? It comes off clockwise and the sprocket anti-clockwise
Otherwise a longer lever on the chain whip is your friend I guess. Those four way tyre bolt undoers are good value for that if the lock ring handle fits inside. Or find a piece of pipe maybe.

Nice work Pat thats a great time. If you're really stuck, msg me and you can come round to my house and I'll either lend you a rear wheel, or have a crack with my chainwhip. 0419708118
When you pedal forwards, this will tighten the cog. The lockring is in the opposite direction.

Thanks mate - I'm away this week but next week I'll bring it down to the track.
Thought I'd do a little report from the match sprint yesterday. Lizanne and I rode it, and Theo came down to help us and give us some advice. He has been so good to me over the last few weeks, and I learnt a heap from him. He also let me use his Pistas cause I couldn't get my gears off. What a legend. I'm super thankful.
I picked up Lizanne from the skating rink where she had just done a 2hr sprinting session. Yes, she is a machine! I might let her write up her races, but she looked great particularly in the last 4 up race.
I rode an 11.5 which I was really happy with, and qualified 8th. That meant I rode against Andrew Taylor who qualified with a 10.2. Yikes! The dude is a machine, and he totally hammered me. But he also totally hammered everyone else and won the whole event very easily, which made me feel a lot better He was tactically brilliant (probably not a huge effort against me ), he was just in my way every time I wanted to do something. And then when he goes he just explodes. It was actually the first time since I quit rugby that someone actually really intimidated me. Was pretty awesome. I had a quick chat to him after to thank him for the bike riding lesson , he is a nice guy too. Anyways they did a 4-up race to decide 5-8th, which I ended up winning! I think the slowest of them qualified with a 10.8 (from memory), and Tim McMillan was there. So ended up coming 5th in a strong field. Stoked. Was great having Lizanne there, and again Theo has been great helping me out too.

Nice effort Patty, 11.5 is a really good time. It's been quite a number of years since any DHBC rider has gone that quick.
I think you've now inherited the fastest rider in the club title.

Nice effort - 11.5 wow that is great. Sounds like you had a good time. I do miss Crafty's sprint sessions.
Yeah Patty - I spoke to one of your handlers who said you really had some stuff, beating many guys with carbon fibre bikes and all the full kit of disc wheels. It will be interesting to see what another year on the bike for you does, you're so strong already. Same goes for LIzanne - it's scary!.Thanks mate - I'm away this week but next week I'll bring it down to the track.
