Hey all,
I'm doing a story for theregister.co.uk, the website for which I work, with a working title of "Build a BONKERS computerised bike".
What should I include?
The Reg is a technology news site, so the idea of the story is to give our techie audience a look at the kind of bike gadgets they'll drool over for their technological values, if not their cycling utility.
Electronic shifters will get a mention. Ditto USB lights. But they're obvious and easy. What other bike gadgets are out there I need to cover?
Simon.

The viiiiva heart rate monitor — which is an ANT+ to/from Bluetooth BLE bridge — meaning you can mix and use different sensors together.
The Schmidt SONdelux dynamo hub to go with The Plug.

Not sure if you are writing in relation to road or normal commuter bikes. If the latter, might want to include a mention of these wheel lights for night riding. There are several on the market.

And a power meter, like SRM cranks
Also there's a business somewhere that hand builds CF shoes to your feet. Cost is along the lines of $1,500 per pair

These glasses are supposed to rival Google glasses. The article came out just before Xmas 2012. Not sure if it is available on the market yet.

Another story posted by Adrian E (?) a while back. Not sure if it went fell through, but the 'Copenhagen Wheel' was supposed to turn normal bikes to a hybrid electric driven one.

It isn't quite on their website yet, but another Adelaide-made alternative is the Niteflux RedZone (next gen). Up to 8w.Also some serious lights a-ups come to mind, but hard to go past a 3w tail light

Here's mine... USB chargeable, lots of flashing modes and brightness levels...
Actually Quarq - owned by SRAMAnd a power meter, like SRM cranks
Here's the link to the blurb http://blog.quarq.com/quarq-launches-ne ... wer-meters. It talks to your Garmin (well perhaps not yours Simon, being a bit on the retro side.
I'd like an invisible bike. As light as air. Wonderful on climbs. Sadly hasn't been invented yet.
Not quite thought controlled gear shifting but remote gear shifting is here.

Thanks Spiros, I got suspicious about half way in. The board is too small for a GPS/Bluetooth module and has nowhere near the power required
