Track Training
It's not raining! so we will be back on the track this week.
For those who haven't tried track, we welcome new riders. We train 6.30-8.30pm every Monday and Wednesday night (although on Wednesdays the juniors are on the track until 7pm so we ask seniors to do their warm up on rollers/ chat / play with their chainrings until then). We have club track bikes for use on Tempe velodrome while you are getting started. All you need is a Cyling Australia silver or gold licence and and pedals, and please turn up early so we can help get you started. If you already ride road, this pdf download answers a lot of questions you might have. If it is your first time on the track And someone will give you some coaching about the track-specific skills needed.

Sorry that is my fault. John Caley told me he couldnt make it tonight and i thought i could but i got stuck picking my partner up from the airport. Normally colin would be there already running the juniors but i think the rain put an end to that.
Training will be back on again on wednesday.
Alex.

Awesome.. See ya'll thereTrack will be on tonight. Raw must be just a few weeks away now...
Cheers Noel. Actually Colin got the bike out ....For those that missed it, apart from pacing short efforts for the sprinters we also had a 30 lap motorpace finishing somwhere over 65 kmh. 2 kierans, a win-n-out, and 2 aussie crawls. Noel, Barrie Mclean at cycling NSW does the derny licence assessments. Best to do it with a couple others so you have riders to tow around.

any idea if training will be on tonight? im keen to come down if we can get on the track
Hi Christine,
yes we can find a club track bike for you to ride. Ideally bring shoes with cleats and your pedals but if not we have pedals with straps you can use in joggers. If you already ride a fixie, there's less of a learning curve. $10 on the night track fees and bring a Cycling Australia licence or show the email that you have got bought one. I'll be away this Wednesday, but Alex or Ben should be there to get you sorted. John
Alex will you be there?

Attention DHBC Trackies - there will be no training at Tempe tomorrow Monday Dec 12 as we'll all be a Hurstville Oval for round 2 of the Monday Twilight Track Series. To get there, it's a 10 minute (750 m) walk from Hurstville railway station. I have space for a few in my car if anyone wants a lift. More details on this thread and the facebook event
This Monday the 9th we are racing at Hurstville Oval from 6pm https://m.facebook.com/events/1604651346508703/ So no training at Tempe on Monday 9th Jan
Hi All,
I saw a few posts on Facebook of some newbies giving track riding a go. Would I be able to come down on Monday 16 Jan to give it a shot? I have my Ride license, but would need to borrow a bike. I also have pedals but somewhat embarrassingly do not have the tools to remove them from my road bike (which I will be riding to the track). Will they be able to be fit to a track bike?
Thanks in advance.

Hi Justin
Yes you can come down. You will need to get there at 6:30 to get set up on a bike. There are some larger ones you can borrow, although we did deem 2 of them as needing repair. Unless it's raining in which case we can't ride on the track. There are pedal spanners at the track and you use the same pedals and they do fit.
I see over on this thread that there is a program for the evening. you should be able to get on the pace line if you get up and going.

We had a dry track for both of the senior sessions this week. You get lucky some times... Ben Lindsay and Lizanne also got the benefit of some motorpacing last night. This coming Monday 20/3 is the 120 lapper again. Hopefully the weather will be kind again.
Yes - unless there is a sudden heatwave, the track will be wet tonight 12 June. But depair not! A solid roller/trainers session tonight could be just what your legs ehart and lungs need. Bring a small towel to stop sweat dripping onto your headset bolt and a larger one if you want to shower afterwards.
