Venue: E.C. Dragway
Race report
Arrived and advised of experience, C grade number issued. Attempt at grade renegotiation, C grade number re-issued
Attire
Netti undershirt, left the santini singlet at home. Bib, DH jersey, remembered boots
Other DH Riders spotted
Fixed gear and Eugene
Practice lap
Course was the drag way, about 3 kms long. No real hills, nice smooth bitumen. The sensation being the Drag way proper is coated in rubber which becomes gooey as temp increases. Laid a bit of rubber on it. Slight head wind at sections, (the scent of Sydney's consumption is on the breeze out there = a tip?). Opps to take a nice line thru corners
Back to the future
It all comes down to the sprint; 1. went to early, was out in front. 2. never look back. 3. never stop pedalling. Pipped at post, got 3rd...
Distance
About 56 kms. Av about 35.5
Prize
A spare tube and pair of socks
:D
Comments
Aren't you glad you went in C grade. Yes, as the winner of D grade passed C grade

Well done! I was out there but didnt see you. I did hear your name being called as I was leaving.

Yes there is a tip right next door. Nothing finer than getting a whiff as the breeze passed me.

Karen.

Well done Mick, you just about got there for a win.

WSID circut is actually 3.68 km around and the 15 laps were a very solid ride.

Unlike Mick who was in the thick of things, I was happy to just hang on and be there in the bunch at the end.

The result also shows the difference the various club gradings, Waratah C grade and RBCC E grade are not too far apart speed wise, RBCC D grade is probably harder than Waratah B grade. (mikesbytes can probably reply to that one as he races those grades).

The girl who won D Grade was badly missgraded, she dropped D, caught and passed C and looks like a sure starter for B grade next time out. Fortunately C grade were able to put time on the rest of D grade to avoid embarassment.

Peter, which grade were you in?

The name Sally Watts sounds familiar. If she overtook C grade on a solo then she probably should be in B grade.

Great result Mick L.

Your on fire.

Are you backing it up with a waterfall ride tomorrow as you did last time.

Any race reports from the other races where DH riders participated.
