Today I met Dr John of AUDAX fame. The news is that he is holding next Sunday 30March the inaugural Sydney six ferry ride:
It is:
Hornsby (7am, Pacific Hwy, Pool entry, opposite Police Station)
Sackville ferry
Upper Portland ferry
Wisemans ferry (then St Albans)
Webbs Creek ferry
Berowra Waters ferry
Mortlake ferry
total ~200km; staedy pace rests are on the ferries. Some substantial hills (ask Simon or James F, they know) plus the two dirt sections to and from St Albans (good prep for the Blaney-Bathurst)
Photo taken on each ferry of each rider to go onto an inaugural T-shirt.
I kind of like the idea and see whether I can sneek off (for the whole day that is). Its a chance to do a long one without haste in a socialy stimulating enviro. Anybody interested?

I understood it was just turning up. Come Thursday I intend to make up my mind and then get confirmation of the important datails.
And I'm a real sucker for fairies.
I have just read about it, (i.e. will need to check with loved ones) but will try and make it there. Will confirm as soon as I can.

What drugs will you guys be on to XXX so many fairies? If there are 6 ferries, then how many fairies will we cross?
I am starting to get a bit suspicious of this get together...

But they ain't magic mushroomsThere are some good mushroom farms near Windsor
OK, Adrian and I are meeting at Central at 5:40 am. Arriving Hornsby 6:19. At this stage, only four folks in the entire group - Eugene, Adrian, myself, and ?the organiser Dr John.
I assume we won't be riding with THE Dr John, the famous Swamp Jazz Boogie Doctor from New Orleans. But if we were, well, that'd make fairies, mushrooms and voodoo. I reckon after 150 km or so, this is gonna be a pretty galactic ride, man!

Facial expression matches and yes he said he wants photos. Should Pagie in fact turn up in this outfit we'll steal his skalp with some our superior tactical maneuvers.
The six fairy/ferry ride took place today with 4 very happy riders (Dr John, Eugene, Huw and myself). We ended up clocking 230km of beautiful and quiet old roads around the Hawkesbury and back to the city. It was a long day in the saddle but it was one of the best rides I've ever done. Hopefully we'll do it again sometime and challenge more DHBC riders to come along if we do it again.

Man was I tired today (Monday)! and now bum pain too. But I specially loved the dinner at Breakfeast Point in that friendly restaurant; us four after 220km sharing a pizza. How much more decent can you get?
A great training and tank you for the company! I'm sure the gained endurance it will come in handy when the acceleration starts in the Bathurst race.
I look already forward to do the sixes again next year.

Hi Eugen,
Great ride, great memories. We’ll certainly make this an annual event.
