I'm interested in doing a good ride this long weekend.

Was thinking around the Hawkesbury. Anyone interested?

I loved the Southern Highlands trip, but alas I have stuff to do this weekend.

I was thinking a one day ride. perhaps something similar to the '6 ferries/fairies' ride I did with Huw and Eugene a few months ago.

Oh... but shorter.

I'm happy to do something on Monday, just to take a break from studying for exams.

Cool.

I was thinking maybe a three ferries ride to Wisemans Ferry via Sackville and Lower Portland then back via Berowra Waters.

Sorry, that sounded a bit pushy! But your MapMyRide thingy for the Southern Highlands was excellent. Whether you would be able to find a route that gives people like you and Mike a decent hit-out without killing me remains to be seen.

If it's Monday I'm in. Anyone looked at the weather forecast?

Shower or two. A term that the Bureau of Meteorology seems to interpret quite widely. If it's a shower or two on Monday like the one that's currently falling in Camperdown, it will be pretty unpleasant riding.

Mmmm... we'll the BoM can get it wrong.

With the idea of organising a good ride for everyone, I thought we could to the three gorges ride on Monday (weather permitting). Its a traditional training ride for riders on the north side... and its got lots ofl hills

My suggestion is that those who are feeling more enthusatic, we ride from Marrickville from 7am and I'd take you on the long way to Turramurra via SOP, Eastwood and up through Browns watering hole. (perhaps we can pick up Eugene on the way?). For those looking for a shorter ride, we can meet you at Hornsby Station at 8-8.15am then do the ride together. My suggestion is that we go Glaston Gorge first, then Berowa Waters, then Bobbin Head. If some riders don't want to do Bobbin Head, then there is always the train option. Hornsby is the best station to get a train as you can get the 30min Newcastle express trains to and from Central. Others can ride home, which would make a good a 100km plus ride.

Sounds good, never actually done the ride in that direction, so it'll be something different. Of course it'll depend on the weather.

Looks pretty good to me Adrian. I'll meet you at Marrickville. Then if I flake out before Bobbin Head I won't feel so bad!

I'm up for this one. I've now got a pink slip.

7am at Marrickville.

I'm also pretty familiar with the roads, which are nice and hilly, with lovely views.

Well....... unfortunately, i'm out now. Someone decided i should be working on monday, and i can't refuse the good public holiday pay. I might just go through RNP with mike and co, depending on how well i've recovered from Wagga by then.

Hi there,

I just wanted to convey the message that Monday's ride will be in the style of Le Grand Tour. In other words, we will be riding a long way but at a medium pace so we all stick together. If you want to meet us at Hornsby we should roll in there around 8:15 and will probably stop for coffee opposite the station. My mobile is 0405-358253 if you need to contact me. I expect we probably won't get back until around 2pm.

The long weekend ride went ahead today with Camilla, Chris/Toff and myself. We headed out at 7am amongst drizzle. The drizzle was on/off a lot of the day but nothing bad. The worst moment of the ride was flating only 2km from Marrickville. We ended up riding to Eastwood then up to Bobbin Head where we bumped into Phil Scheidegger. With uncertain weather we changed plans and went to Broklyn, then back to The Pie in the Sky for lunch (I think we collectively consumed 6 different pies from the 27 on the menu). We got back at 3pm and in total clocked around 140km.
