After Fiona and I latched on to the middies when they over took the cruisers on this weeks Waterfall ride, I realised a few of us could step up without too much trouble. It seems some of the cruisers I (including me) hang back thinking the pace is way too fast in the middies. Admittedly I got dropped at the freeway hills as did Colin, and eventually Fiona and Andre, but we stuck together in 2's, rejoined the back of other groups and all the "dropped middies" ended up together doing the mad mile. We also had the comfort of knowing Lindsay's group was behind us if we got into trouble.

I must say latching on to Sydney City and their pace line was awesome. They were very accommodating to let us on to their very organised line, and we all ended up going pretty fast without much effort. It was the best run back from Waterfall I think we have done.

So if any Sunday cruisers are interested in trying the middies - a few of us will have a go next Sunday - 29th.

It's perfectly normal to get dropped when you transition. That's just the nature of the thing. But the pace will push you that bit harder and over time, you'll hang for the whole way and even drive the pace.

There are real training benefits with ITT after you get dropped. So it's actually something to look forward to. :wink:

Yay.....back with the c grade possy. No you will be the 2nd to get dropped, I am usually the first.

I have a feeling that I might be the first to be dropped this week, as ill probably be on the new fixie spinning my legs off.

Alex....as if. You could be on a fixie 3 wheel trike with only 1 leg and probably still be the first to the cafe!!!!

It really depends on the speed of the bunch I rode with the fast group last week and (just) managed to stay on until I was dropped at loftus which is the same thing that happened the first time I rode with the middies. Not only are there some that are in the slow group that could step up I think that there may be on occasion some that push hard on the front of the middies when they probably should be in the fast bunch. I hope to be back next week in the middies after suffering the dreaded sore back from sleeping on the lounge on friday night.

I think that if you can keep up with the next group up to Loftus, then you are ready for the transition. The rest is all about training to make it the whole way to Waterfall and then back to Sutherland.

be careful what you wish for.
There are lots of club members with kids that may very wel have a trike for you to take the challenge on :lol:

Ah, I'll lend out my son's old trike. Blue with white saddle... KMart special. Front wheel hub makes a slight squeak but should affect Alex's performance on the Mad Mile. :lol:

Just remember, it's aero with a very low centre of gravity.
