I am looking at getting myself and my brother a Road ID. I thought that I would throw it open to other club members to see if anyone else was interested.

They are basically a bracelet that you wear when you are riding in case you are injured while on the bike and you can't communicate. They typically contain contact information and medical history.

Depending on the style you want, and with the current strength of the Aussie Dollar, they will cost about $20 or $30

If anyone is interested, have a look at their site, to determine what you want and then PM me with the details and the text you want written on it.

I will probably place the order early next month, so hopefully they are here in time for Christmas.

I have one of these and they are pretty cool, but I have struggled to remember to wear it since I've had it (which has been about 5 months).

I really need to get into the habit, or find an alternative that I'm more likely to wear... I wrote my medical information on my wrist using a marker in the race on Sunday.

It would be useful when I will get runover by a road train during Le tour the Disneyland. But I would want it to arrive definitely before Christmas.

I wouldn't recommend putting Kevin Rudd as your contact. I also wouldn't recommend putting your boyfriend/girlfriend, as there may be a chance that they are one day prefixed with an 'ex', and may no longer wish to respond to an emergency call about your well being

If there is enough interest, then I would probably get the USPS Global Priority Shipping. According to Road ID's website, the delivery time for this is 2 to 10 days. Considering the number of Aus/US Flights daily, I would expect it would be closer to 2 than 10.

I will be putting the order through on the 1/12, for custom orders, it looks like it is a 5 day turn around, so I would like to think that they would arrive before the middle of the month.

How true! It can't be your husband or wife too!! In one of the movies, a wife gets kidnaped and the kidnappers ask $1m ransom. The husband offers $2m to keep her!!

That depends on if you chose the beneficiary in your will wisely. I assume you did but one never know and this may be the perfect scenario to test it out.

Wot happenes if you live on your own, and don't have family/gf/bf and you are left dying in a dinosaur attack? Does 911 take care of you better than your relatives?

112 is the international emergency number on the GSM network. That's what I have programmed on my phone. It'll automatically redirect to the appropriate local number.

In the absence of anyone close, the various govt agencies will "look after" you. If there's an accident, then the ambulance/police will be involved initially. Once in the hospital, the medical/nursing team will take over along with social workers, who'll locate your next placement and liaise with community support groups to assist you post-discharge. Police will also assist in attempting to locate the next of kin. In the event of death without of a will, then NSW Trustee and Guardian will take over and administer the estate according to a set rule. If no kins found, then the government will send a thank you note.
