Traveling with a bike box in zug Zug train in GER/Eu

I am off to race Ironman Regesnburg in less than 3 weeks. I will be landing in Munich with a backpack and a bike box. I intend to travel around in train with the bike box. I have a few questions related to that:
1) Do you take bike box along to your seat like in Sydney's cityrail, or submit it in the luggage room like our country link trains?
2) Do you have to pay extra for transporting the bike box?
3) If so, then how does it work with the online booking (they don't have any option on the website)?

I tried searching for info on bahn website, but no help. I am sure some of you have might have done touring/racing etc in Europe and can provide info from your experiences. :?:

Here are some things from the web:
but regional trains have normal bile compartments.

If you stick to regional trains (RE, RB, S - which is not a difficulty since there are hardly any others on the route to Immenstadt) and start off after 9 you can use the Bavaria Ticket (19 € for 1 person, 28 € for 2-5 persons together)
Some of the carriages are marked with bicycle symbols and this is where you take you bike. Again this seems to be regional trains.

Or you could find someone who speaks more German than I, go to the following page and search for fahrrad (bicycle). There are lots of results.

This is a bit old and mouldy about Munich.

"Since the new FJS Airport is a good distance from Munich, even a regular taxi fare is not cheap ... and unnecessary, since you can just roll your bike into the elevator and go down to the metro (S-Bahn) station. You are allowed to take bikes on the trains, except during rush hour"

or better still, go to the bahn (rail) site in English and then you can search for bicycle and read the results yourself!
