Our site needs a touring page...

I think a touring page should be the next thing to come. We can put all those scenic holidays up. Or at least links to crazy guy on a bike. I want to add some more culture to the site...

For helmet cams, take a look here. http://www.helmetcamreview.com/ The ATC2K can be had for around AUD$150 with 2G memory card (maybe a bit more), though i'm unsure if the qaulity is sufficient. Otherwise the better ones usually require a camcorder to record onto as well as being more expensive.

Perhaps you could try some yoghurt photos?

What I mean is, I'm happy to help. Or run. Or whatever.

I've been thinking i need this http://www.tubus.com/index/lang/en/rubr ... %20carrier for my touring bike. Can't go wrong with the lightest rack in the world.

James, that's kinda funny. You save say 200gms on the carrier and then carry 30kg of clobber.

Hey, we all know T-Bone is not a WW for nothing!

No, it just means i could carry 30kg. 8) There's also a 260g one which has extra attachments, but the one i wanted previously, the 'fly' weighs 330g and only carries 18kg. The plan is for the bike to be under 8kg unloaded, though i haven't decided if it's possible with a dynamo hub (maybe 8.5kg with lights).

Just pulling your chain James. But the question still stands, why do you need the touring bike to be so light? Especially considering all the clobber you will be carrying?

Yesterday I threw together a touring page for the club website.

I'd like to hear your feedback. I'm thinking I'll include reports from Tempetation, since I reckon it counted as touring. I plan to include a resources link. Thoughts on a "Building a touring bike" page?

What do y'all think?

Great work Huw. The touring page looks great I have a strong feeling that touring is going to be one part of cycling that is really going to grow in the future.

Huw, well done on the touring page, just spent a considerable amount of time checking out your European travels and Lindsay's account of Penny Farthing and other cycling in Tassie. Great stuff :D

Not sure if the fixie century is "touring" or not though....maybe it's just "road".

I agree with the fixie century being touring. What we did was toured, there was not racing...

I've put the Tempetation report up as a link from the Cycle-Touring page.

Can anyone help me with the names of the riders? There were a couple of guys whose names I forgot. I wanted to list them in this photo:

Image
From L to R: Garth, Grant, Ross, Matt, Eugen, Simon, Peter, Julian, ?, Steve, Huw and Kevin, our beloved support crew. Missing from the photo were James (waiting on the wrong side of the hotel) and Lindsay (the photographer!).
