crank length

Hi guys,

Almost finished building up my track bike for hitting up tempe, but needed some help on crank length.

Im 185cm, the bike frame is 59cm, the bottom bracket height is around 10.9inchs.

I was thinking of going for 165mm's, but would i be better off going for 167.5 or even 170mm's?

What does everyone else run at tempe?

Thanks

Matt

Definitely 170mm cranks are a goer, particularly for your build. I've ridden and raced on both 165mm and 170mm....

I would also recommend getting cranks with 144bcd/pcd if you're buying new. Either sugino 75 which are probably best value for money (or ZEN if your want top spend for bling), shimano dura ace which are very smooth just watch out for the price of chain rings, campag record for if your a campag man or FSA which I'm not a particular fan of but if that's what you normally ride go for it. Just watch out for Miche, they may be cheaper but if you go racing and forget your chain rings it is likely that no one will have any that is compatible.

Or if you have some or can find some second hand cranks that will do the job go for it. Again be wary of the PCD/BCD of older cranks as it has changed in shimano and campag...

Very nice cranks... Very smooth... I ride campy but have raced on the Dura Ace for the start of this season. Picked up some good results with them...

My only complaints were the chain bolts which had been put on them didn't fit (not the originals or correct bolts) so they kept coming loose and putting my safety in danger and the chain kept getting stuck in between the crank and BB every time I changed the chain ring. It's a real bugger because I had to keep taking the cranks off to get the chain out. Eventually just jammed tissues in there to stop it...

But beautiful cranks, ride very well. I won't compare them to campy record because I love my campy stuff but I would really consider buying some if the price is right and I have to get come new cranks some day..

Gosh, that brought back memories. Haven't been back to that park since high school days... Where we had our swimming lessons and sports carnivals.
