Just so you know, the Colnago isn't actually a Colnago. It just has some stickers on it. I contacted the seller to explain the reasons why it's not a Colnago, but you can see from the tyre clearance around the wheel, and the very big fork trail that the bike started out as a low end kid's mountain bike that was modified to be ridden on a flat track. It would not be much fun to ride on a velodrome.

I purchased William's (Junior Dougie) Hillbrick 24 from Burwood Cycleworld. They offered a 12.5-15% Club discount based on method of payment. They have all the Fuji's in stock. They also have a Hillbrick 20 that has made my six year old daughter replace her current saying of "Daddy, please buy me a Pony" with "Daddy, please buy me a Track Bike".

They are very helpful and took their time setting William up on it. Better he rides on the Velodrome than the road, what price is your piece of mind?

Hey Toff, have you seen the updated eBay listing on the Colnago?:

"*** in wanting to give all information i can to bidders,i had a Question from a person stating they believed this Bike Not to be a Colnago and to simply have the stickers on it, i would have posted his Question for you all to assess for yourself but they used "Colourfull" Langage so i thought it better Not to, if anyone has any Constructive information on this bike Please feel free to let me know as i do not want to list a bike wrongly, all i am going by is the bike's appearance and the info i was told on purchase.

i have amended the Listing to state Colnago stickers as i am unsure "

I can't imagine you using colourful language!?

That comment was already on the listing when I contacted the seller. I provided "constructive" information to the seller, as he requested. Here is what I wrote to the seller verbatim. I wanted to explain lots more about the bike, but Ebay limits your word count, so I had to be very concise.

"Dear woopsemail,

Since you asked, here is some info about your bike, focusing on why it's not a Colnago.

It's almost certainly a low-end kid's MTB which has been modified for track use. Not enough room here to explain. The main clues are the wide clearances around the wheels to accomodate a mountain bike tyre - unheard of on genuine competition road and track frames.

Why this bike isn't a Colnago include:

-Colnago have not made any kids' sized bikes since the 70s, except for rare custom one-offs, which are all well known and documented.

-All genuine Colnagos have numerous proprietry markings & trefoils stamped all over the frames. This distinguishes them from the many fakes in existence.

-Steel Colnagos are always made with lugs, and are never welded.

-Colnagos use Italian threading on the bottom bracket. (36mmX24tpi) Yours will have English threading (1.37"X24 tpi) & a left hand thread on the fixed cup.)

-Colnago dropouts are always stamped Colnago or Campagnolo.

Hope that helps,
Regards
Chris"

Found listings on eBay for 24in track bikes, free shipping from Melbourne for $459. There is a (drop bar version, and also a flat bar version ...assuming the flat bar would be easy enough to change to drops, worth asking if they would do it for you.)

Of course, I can't vouch for them, but they might be a solution for some of the smaller riders.

Seat tube is 380mm, top tube is 445mm.

EDIT: they have a website - http://www.fffixie.com

(On behalf of Lizanne, bike hunter).

Brian Smedley has two junior track and two junior road bikes for sale (amongst a few others). He would prefer to sell the four junior bikes as a single lot for $1600; but will possibly part with them separately.

Hi

Is your club still looking for Junior Bikes?

I have an Orbea 24" road bike and 24" Hillbrick track bike for sale.

I also have a specialized 24" road bike and Bundy 24" track bike.

I also have a 49cm hillbrick track bike.

I also have 2 specialised track frames for 700c wheels 52cm and 54cm.

Not sure what the hell is going on with the handlebars and it's a road conversion, but I always liked these Cannondales.

With that frame, you're not going to be able to change the gearing without replacing those vertical dropouts with track ends. As far as I know, that's going to involve milling some track ends from stainless steel or aluminium. Not a simple exercise...

fyi for other parents.
We ordered in a Fuji Classic Burwood Cycleworld and did a test sizing there.
http://australia.fujibikes.com/bike/det ... classic_12
size : XXS / 43cm , 650c wheels
modifications done at LBS:
Removed non-track bits (brakes + reflectors)
shifted the seat to the front
added/swapped in handlebar stem 60mm
added/swapped in sprocket 17T to meet junior roll out

pretty happy overall.

Thought it would be timely to bump this with the last session having several kids sharing bikes

Azzurri pista track bike

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/azzurri-pist ... 500wt_1156

"small that equates to a 51cm top tube and a 46cm seat tube"

No bids at $300, Buy it Now $400.
No sure if that includes P&H but I'm assuming it's pickup from Medowie (North of Newcastle)

Assuming it is the same as : http://www.cyclingexpress.com/cycle/cle ... pista.aspx

52cm TT. Specialized S-works steel frame. really cool looking bike.
The reach is a little bigger than what i ride, so any Junior a little bigger than me would fit this well (i'm 153 cm)

Surprised that you guys are listing 52cm frames for juniors. The junior must be around the 170cm height range... Not very "junior".

Yes, I agree that some are very tall these days and also blame on the chicken. I just have this persisting mental picture of "junior bike" based on height rather than age.

Anyone selling a junior track bike?

My nephew has finally decided that he "needs" a track bike

He is 152cm tall, standover height 71cm or smaller : he is under 13s.

Was thinking of handing down my old track bike and throwing 650c wheels and smaller cranks on it. Not sure if that would pass for now, as he wont be racing until next year.

Cheers

SB
