Today we had about 14 riders and agreed to split into Middies and C28 pace once the hills started just after we crossed the Shire border outpost. Was a great ride, and now we have critical mass.
I believe there were around 30 riders in C28s Waterfall ride which was broken up into 3 groups. There's plenty of room to join RNP instead and even out the numbers. Plus cruising each week equates to no lift in performance.
So C28s - why not regularly ride RNP....
That is all

it depends what you are trying to achieve.
C28s gives a pretty decent heart and calorie workout (and clockwork return for coffee) with less impact on the joints compared to a RNP visit at C28 pace.
And there are multiple exit strategies (ie train line) if required, whereas deep into RNP it's pretty much just vultures and dingoes.

Any thoughts on this Sunday?
Was thinking of doing it solo: middies to fasties pace but would enjoy some company!

I'm up for an RNP ride this Sunday but what time do we usually get back to the cafe? I have to be back by 10am.
Is going in at Audley quicker than going in at Waterfall or vice versa?

Jo - whatever way I go I normally arrive back around 9:30am (often link up with the C28s).I'm up for an RNP ride this Sunday but what time do we usually get back to the cafe? I have to be back by 10am.

I'd say you'd make it back by 10am pretty comfortably with your current fitness but this depends on the speed of the slowest rider and whether you commit to waiting for them.
On a good day (and if you didn't stop) you could even be back just after 9am (92kms @ 30kph average).

FYI my RNP rides (solo) start at 6:30 and I always make it back by 10am (96km).
10am is doable in a small group

Sunday 6th April: 28's welcome the early morning sun return with a RNP ride,
Feel can't keep up with regular RNP riders then this is the ride for you,
A longer tougher ride than Waterfall so build endurance and strength
remember daylight savings ends so wind clocks back 1 hr
Start ride with RNP regulars and as group decide when to do our pace
A no drop ride so wait for puncture, and at top/bottom of hills
Weather dependent of course,
anyone interested

Flat tyre as I'm walking out. Sorry guys. Will stick to Waterfall.
I'm planning another RNP venture tomorrow at 6am.
Might go to Stanwell Tops.
For the return leg it might include a dollop of The Wall for sweetness and that extra tang.
Someone pray to one of your Gods to keep the rain away - please. I'm over it.

Any takers for RNP tomorrow?? I'm looking to have a easy(ish) reintroduction to some hills tomorrow. If there are peeps riding tomorrow I'll join. Otherwise I might do a solo run or wuss out and just do middies.
Cheers,
Noel

Hi Dave
Todd and I will be taking the C25 and C28 groups out next Sunday. We'd prefer if you are paid up member of cycling Australia, for insurance reasons. But give us a try anyway. The groups are well disciplined and predictable. We have a no drop policy for the 25s.
Regards
Marc

We meet at the open space / forecourt area next to the Post Office Cafe, Marrickville Rd. We meet just before 6.30 am. We leave at 6.30 sharp, no exceptions. See u there.
Note that next Sunday is the 'gong ride so Waterfall rides are unlikely to be on given the amount of riders that will be on the route. See this thraed for details >> http://www.dhbc.org.au/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=4623
Also Dave, please see the club's website for details on all our rides >> http://www.dhbc.org.au/bicycle-club/road.html

Anyone up for a C28's RNP ride on Sunday leaving the cafe at 6am?
I don't mind whether we do in at Audley or in at Waterfall. Majority rules.

Computer, define "oxymoron"?Sun 14th Dec: RNP C28's Waterfall in, Audley out, 6:00am start. Another opportunity for Waterfall C28 riders to do RNP; this time the easier way!

Is anyone up for an extended RNP this Sunday 18th ? I'm yet to ride the infamous 'Wall' and need to do it before the Alpine Classic. My thinking is in at Audley - Garie Beach - Otford - then the Wall etc. I've convinced Mark L for it - i'm sure there would be others who are interested, esp the Alpine ppl. Any further extensions welcome to.
Hey Paul - 5.30 is fine by me - If there is an extended group then majority rules on 5.30 or 6.
Aiming to go as far as Scarborough / Coledale - Which means we also get to ride the nasty piece of work BALD HILL.
Climbs: Artillery - Garie Beach - Otford - down to Scarbrough-ish turnaround - Bald Hill, The Wall and out via Waterfall Hill.
I think 140km ish and a bit over 2,000m climbing. I could be wrong, we'll find out at the end.
