bent derailleur hanger?

I fell off recently and the bike landed on the right hand side.
The impact was severe enough to knock the forks and brifter out of line.

That has been fixed, but I'm finding the gears hard to tune, so suspect that I have bent the derailleur hanger.
Is there an easy way to test this and then get it back into line?

Is your hanger part of the frame or a separate component?

Paul said it was a replaceable derailleur hanger on an aluminium frame. The derailleur alignment tool works well on a steel frame, I'm not certain about aluminium frames.

It'll work fine on any frame (steel, carbon or alloy). @Paul, the replaceable alloy hanger is designed to bend to mitigate any blow to the dropout. Most replaceable hangers can be straightened but some will become brittle and crack if they're bent too many times. It's a good idea to own a spare hanger and keep with you if you're ever travelling with your bike.

It was well out of line, so needed a bit of judicious bending.
