3rd annual DHBC Individual Time Trial @ Calga, Sun 6 Aug 2017
The 3rd annual DHBC Individual Time Trial is on again!
This will take place on Sunday August 6th at Calga. This event will be organised by club members Michael Clement and Marc Rerceretnam and run with the Australian Time Trial Association (ATTA). For those of you who are familiar with the Calga TT route, this will be no different.
Our event will be run over a 25km section of road, and the DHBC splits the event into riders riding 'normal' ie. modern, carbon fibre, titanium with modern 9-11 speed grouppos etc and 'vintage' ie. pre-1996 frames with 5-8 speed grouppo and equipment.
MODERN: Post 1997 carbon fibre, titanium (or steel) with modern 9-11 speed grouppos and equipment.
VINTAGE: Pre-1996 steel, titanium or aluminium (or pre 1996 carbon fibre) frames with fixed or 3-8 speed grouppo and equipment.
KEEPER OF THE FLAME: Pre 1996 frame with modern/post-1997 groupset.
The winner of the overall championship is currently held by Craig Weller who has held the perpetual DHBC ITT trophy for the last 2 years. This trophy will be up for grabs again, plus Ashfield Cycles has donated a couple of vouchers too. ITT regular Michael Clement has also kindly donated a vintage venticular late 80s HED disc wheel (accepts 5-7 cog freewheels) for the winner of the Vintage section.

I'll be back - modern(ish). The steed is a 2012 Cervelo P3 Carbon.
In addition, I'll be donating an 'Everyday' skincare pack - suitable for female and male competitors (compliments of BOD Australia) valued at about $100.
Hopefully the weather will be a little warmer than last Sunday - it was 1.5 Degrees at 7:30!!!
Good luck to all with the TTT next week - a good warm-up for the prestigious DHBC TT Champs!

Keen! Very much enjoyed the TTT, and I need some serious incentive to be motivated to get out there. But also need some female rivalry to make things not too easy to come first . Are there any other girls interested in TT racing? Katie, Laura, Di, Louise, Eleri, Sandra, Tarryn or other? Annemiek

Dear TT'ers - in order to get a decent start time (i.e. not too late), I suggest you do an early online entry. The process is quite simple:
1. Deposit $25 into the ATTA bank account - be sure to add your name and note 25k TT
BSB: 112-879
Account: 477315982
2. Send Brad Craft an email nominating your preferred start time and evidence of your deposit

John, not sure, but I think a free go after a PB only applies if you ride the following month. Can anyone confirm this? Otherwise just email ATTA and ask.Hey I think I get a free ride as I got a PB last time. Is that still offered?

The weather forecast for Sunday is sunny 20deg. Excellent!!!
Those not prebooking your start slots, I recommend that you go start to the sign-on queue when you get there. Off memory sign on starts at 7.30am. You can nominate your slot however if its popular this month then you will probably nominate the first available slot.
The handicap system provided by ATTA will determine that winner of the DHBC trophy and it is age and gender corrected. Odds are looking pretty good to win the vintage disc wheel We will also look for the most improved based on the PB's of those who have done the 25k course before. Most of all its fun so everyone is a winner!

I understand its only been done once before on a fixie and that was the 12.5k route. So if your doing the 25k route then you will fixie champion by default. Crafty can correct me if I'm wrongIll be doing it on the fixie, so i guess that puts me in the vintage category. Ill still have a crack at beating Weller though.

Appologies for being slow with getting the data up, I'm been down with the flu
As anticipated Craig has won the cup again (there's a proposal to rename it the Craig Weller cup). Simon who was anticipated to be his closest competition was down with a bug but still managed to beat standard time for his age with a comfortable 3 seconds to spare.
Craig's closest rival turned out not to be Alex Chubb on the fixie but Peter McSwiggan, while a long way down on Craig now has bragging rights that he beat Chubb's by 9 seconds (of course he will forget to tell his mates that Alex was on a fixie).
