Anzac Day Ride - Waterfall or M7 - any takers?

After our aborted attempt to do Waterfall last Sat Jo & I are up for an extra ride this long weekend on Anzac day Friday. Plan is to leave Mick Mazza's at 06:30 to do Waterfall, or to drive out to Liverpool for a 06:30 start to do the M7 cycleway end to end and return (85k's) starting at the M5 / M7 junction (park across the way in the golf club car park on Camden Valley Way Prestons, opposite Ash Rd).

The pace to Waterfall would be medium @ approx 27kph average.

The M7 cycleway is an "easier" ride but great fun with some long hills and lots of fast flat sections. And of course No CARS! Pace along here would be about the same - it normally takes approx. 3 to 3.25 hours but there is a detour at the moment due to a landslide so it could be longer.

Reply here if you're interested with a preference 'cause once again we will leave from home if we are the only starters.

We'll also be at slowies Sat and Waterfall Sun, weather permitting, so see you all there anyway.

For an M7 cycleway map and details see here >> http://www.westlinkm7.com.au/Safety-SafetyClub.asp

I'll probably be going to at least waterfall, possibly further depending on how the legs feel. Though at the moment i think i'll need to sleep a bit extra, so probably a 7:30am start for me, pace will be easy enough. Just let me know if you're planning to come and i'll look out for you a Mick Mazza's or any alternate location along the way.

Of course, this might be dependent on the weather staying fine, as i'm not sure if i'd be able to drag myself out in the rain.

I"m definitely interested, a 7:30 start sounds good. My only problem is I haven't returned to a normal sleeping hours from night shift yet. I didn't get to bed till 4am this morning, so even a 7:30 start may be too early...

I'm interested in riding out to Waterfall if the weather is right.

I'm a bit bike challenged at the moment, I've got the beast with the small ring only so my top gear is 39-11.

Ok, my plans have changed slightly, i'm not sure when i'll get up, so i'll probably just be going riding when that happens. Hopefully no one is going to try and find me at Mick's.

Stuart, you car was there when I went past your place at 6.35, so I assumed you went to waterfall, but I didn't see you, but I got a flat so wouldn't of caught you.

How was Waterfall Mike - I guess it was pretty windy? Jo got home at midnight last night after dinner & a few drinks so we didn't make a 6:30 start - ended up peddling into Centennial and doing laps, hill and sprints for 1.5 hours - it rained a bit and Jo was not up to her usual standard - I could even keep up with her on the hills.

So, as Saturday is meant to be fine & sunny with little wind we are going to Waterfall instead of slowies - we'll still be at Mazza's at 06:30 though. Sunday is supposed to be very windy - gusts up to 45k's and some rain so we thought we'd go while the going was good - assuming the forecast is correct of course. We do intend to do Waterfall Sunday as well though - depending on the weather!

It was a headwind out, but not a huge one. Didn't get rained on. The way back was a bit of a spin with a maximum gear of 39-11 making me a bit of fixie rider.

Saturday I'm intending to race out at Oatley.

Well not quite..... remember me ringing you and waking you at 7.40 wondering where you and the other pussies were.

I ended up going home and going on the trainer.

I didn't get to sleep till about 3am, I did an hour and half on the rollers before bed and then ended up riding at about 10am to waterfall on 64 inch fixed. It was quite a long ride on such a small gear...
