Parental Leave

It is recommended that people on parental leave build a bike.

I am still debating with myself whether to use the ergo shifters (Campag Chorus 8speeds) or make it a retro style with downtube friction shifters (with Campag Record Shifters)

I have all the equipment for either option and its only a matter of deciding. :?

I think more importantly, you should start on a tricycle build! Or you'll end up having to buy one of those K-Mart special. ;)

Given they are all made in Taiwan, I am sure an upgrade path can be arranged. Yet again, steel is real and you have to start them young on that concept.

Check out pics from the American handbuilt bicycle show, there're some nice tricks there, just search cyclingnews.

As for the shifters, i haven't had to use downtubes, so that would decide for me, plus the integrated shifters are easier to use. For a retro build i reckon the whole build needs to be retro, so everything from the same era.
